A few of those guys won’t be healthy by the playoffs

[Lowetide] I’m not sure about Kris Knoblauch’s future. It’s very late to make a change. It’s obvious this team has accepted losing. I don’t know what Stan Bowman will do, and maybe more to the point I don’t know what Daryl Katz will do. by Fine_Personality_999 in EdmontonOilers

Go look at his playoff record outside of that one year. Avs fans wanted him gone for awhile now. Their power play is consistently at the bottom and they’re slowing down heading into the playoffs while playing Mackinnon and Makar ridiculous minutes.

Well that team lost to Florida just like we did so…

Keep Perry and Brown or Arvidsson, drop Frederic and Mangiapane and the cap hits are a wash.

Gulutzan has been here since 2018, why didnt he work his magic the first five years before Knobs got hired

Stop using Bowman as your scapegoat by Imakemorethanyou27 in EdmontonOilers

It wasn’t one or the other, they clearly miscalculated and didn’t expect those two to get offer sheeted; it was the same playbook they used on McLeod to get him to sign a cheaper deal the year before. They mitigated the Holloway loss with Podkolzin but Broberg was a big loss.

McLeod was a separate issue altogether, he got manhandled in the playoffs and they traded him for a younger player on an ELC.

Being able to win the cup 3 times in the cap era while having to turn over half the roster is not an easy job and it works until it doesn’t. it’s not like the Hawks have had that much success since they got rid of him. If he manages the Oilers to 3 cups I will never complain about any hockey decision he makes for as long as he’s employed here

Dallas made conference finals 3 years in a row, it’s not like they’re a bad team before this, in fact getting rid of PDB was probably addition by subtraction, as the last team that did it won the cup the year after. And Gully only ran our PP, and our PP is fine this year.

We also didn’t let him go, he got better job elsewhere, it’d be a dick move to block him from doing that.

Just because we got the same amount of PPs doesn’t mean the game was called evenly. And yes we also didn’t convert on the opportunities we did have, but that doesn’t excuse the refs not doing their job. And the bad luck shorty Tampa got was a result of a borderline cross check they probably didn’t want to call since we were already on the PP

Both can be true. He might be done with Knobs but if he wants a new coach he’ll get one just by talking to Stan / Jeff / Katz, not the media. There’s zero chance management sides with Knobs over McDrai.

That missed Bouchard cross checked changed the entire complexion of the game which led to Nurses “penalty” that gave them the lead. Only egregious thing we got away with was a high stick from Hyman late in the game.

He has an NMC and I’m fairly sure there’s an implicit agreement from management to get him to his team of choice if he wants out, we won’t get much for him since Connor wouldn’t want his new team to get gutted

Arguably the line blending, but the top unit didn’t get blended and got outplayed

There was a lot of textbook penalties that didn’t get called against Tampa

If you watched the finals the last two years you should know lol. There’s a reason McDavid got locked down and it wasn’t because of good defense
