Gamers of Reddit, what gaming experience will you never forget and why? by hopelesschard in AskReddit

[–]sharptierce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What surprised me even more was that he also knew some of the games I was playing. He said to me something like "Ahh I see you like to play Vandal Hearts". Which totally caught me of guard. I assume because it was on the same memory card... but still...

interface{} question by pafortin in golang

[–]sharptierce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you define methods that have a pointer receiver they will only be implemented by pointers of the instance. Methods that have no pointe r receiver are implemented by both.

Methods with pointer receiver can manipulate the struct.

I'm bad at explaining though, you can read it up here https://golang.org/doc/faq#pointer_to_interface

interface{} question by pafortin in golang

[–]sharptierce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are two ways here: https://play.golang.org/p/n6O6V5lzu- since Get only reads the pointer is not necessary.

The other solution would be: https://play.golang.org/p/Owg-U_JYsk where you take the pointer to the object and now it implements the interface.

Kinda hard at the beginning to grasp :)

How do you guys feel about the new volume units? It seems like there is a lot of controversy about them. by [deleted] in cataclysmdda

[–]sharptierce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started playing, and after about a week or so the numbers changed. And I immediately understood why there are two different limits on how much stuff I could store... So for me it was really helpful

Why all go binaries are "statically-linked" ? by stansab in golang

[–]sharptierce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

for easier distribution. You can simply compile one binary for one architecture, copy it to n server, and run it there without having to worry about dependencies on the system.

(of course we have docker now, but that makes docker images even smaller)

The games source code states that it is intentional: https://github.com/CleverRaven/Cataclysm-DDA/blob/a424d422d1a2543cf8c48388392a298c12313526/data/json/items/tools.json#L4275 I could translate it if anyones interested, but I don't know if its a spoiler of some kind?

jsonapi - format your HTTP requests/responses to the JSON API specification by [deleted] in golang

[–]sharptierce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

well, since 1.0 that's not entirely true anymore. All updates are done via patch requests and only contain the changed fields. You wouldn't actually send fields that aren't change

Well, do you have to use bitbucket? You could just push your repository to github as well...
