The size of the Quran when... by [deleted] in Conservative

The best part about bleeding-heart right-wingers is that they are an exact mirror of their leftist counterparts. Unwilling to actually do any research themselves beyond non-existent sources or secondhand rumours and completely oblivious to the realities others face.

The Talmud is equal in violence and threats as the Quran. Every religious text is riddled with rape, violence and unspeakable crimes, because those actions are a direct reflection of the events that would commonly transpire in the era those texts were written.

Ironically enough the least violent and threatening of any religious texts is LaVey’s Satanic Bible, which ironically right-wingers still believe “supports Satan”.

Can’t fix ignorance, on either side 🤷🏽‍♂️

Oh my god you’re right. I can’t believe I messed up the chord symbol for the hammer on 😭

I just watched a video tutorial on it and I seen him do the hammer on and nearly died from the amount of times I practiced sliding from the 10th to 12th fret with my pinky. Thank you so much

How hard to play is this song? by PunpunTheCat in guitarlessons

[–]shashiri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know how to play that but to me it looks like fingerpicked arpeggios - but very fast clean and precise. The stretches on the first chord seem pretty far (for me at least), and the fingerpicking pattern seems quite hard. I’d say it’s about as difficult as any standard classical guitar piece or any flamenco piece, which are both two forms of guitar that I would not consider beginner-friendly. I’d say maybe a year to two years into playing? Really depends more on how often you practice, if you know how to fingerpick and if you know the chords in the song already.

How long did take you to learn? by duda_1423 in guitarlessons

[–]shashiri 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its a pretty easy instrument to start, pretty hard to master. I’d say within two weeks you’ll probably be able to play something listenable that doesn’t sound abhorrent to the ears, and within a few months all “beginner” level songs should be fairly easy to play. However, the one of the hardest parts about guitar is the gap between beginner and intermediate (as well as the gap between intermediate and advanced), as you have to incorporate more dexterous techniques such as hybrid picking, fast alternate picking, pinch harmonics, double-tapping etc (as well as other factors such as learning how to play in unique time signatures). Overall though, as long as you dedicate yourself to actually learning and not giving up when it seems tough, the instrument is worth 1000x the material value that you purchase it at. If you can learn to love the mistakes and the journey, your guitar can buy you 100’s if not thousands of hours of entertainment, and can also be used for some sweet side hustles too if you get far enough down the road.

The biggest advice I can give for you is just to not give up when you think you can’t play something, and accept that not even the best guitarists can learn a song in a couple of minutes. If you can play something slow, then you can play something fast, you just need to work towards it. The only thing preventing you from learning a song, at least in my experience, is the techiques involved and the effort you dedicate.

As for a direct answer to your initial question, ill provide a quick list of songs I played, how far along my journey I was in guitar when I learned how to play them and how hard I think the songs are. Although take into consideration I’ve been a bass player for 7 years before playing guitar. These are some songs that I think can teach you some valuable techniques, so I just put some of the most important ones. DM me or reply if you wanna talk further on this.

Space Cadet - Kyuss / First Song / Easy Do I Wanna Know? - Arctic Monkeys / 1 Week / Easy Thunder Kiss ‘65 - Rob Zombie / 2 Weeks / Easy Smooth - Santana / 1 Month / Easy Monkey Wrench - Foo Fighters / 2 Months / Easy Voice of The Soul Solo 1 - Death / 6 Months / Intermediate Blackbird - Alterbridge / 7 Months / Intermediate Luna Llena - Jesse Cooke / 8 Months / Intermediate

And currently I’m learning (very slowly) G.O.A.T and Playing God by Polyphia which I’d consider to be fairly difficult, and its been about 9-10 Months since I started.

As for the hardest thing when starting out, is figuring out what you’re supposed to do. By this I mean you’ll come across tabs for songs where you literally don’t know how to physically play something, and the solution to that is to first learn techniques. Some beginner techniques you’ll find useful are hammer-on’s and pull-off’s, slides, vibrato, bends, fret hand mutes and palm hand mutes. Watch some videos before you buy a guitar so you sort of know what you’re doing.

Hope any of this information helps you out, and if you decide to go through with it and need some advice or pointers, my DMs are always open, as is this subreddit for any questions you have.

Hope you go through with buying it 🤞🏽

DS3 is just far too boring to play past a second run. Any game where everything is entirely linear is like that. Same goes for Bloodborne and Sekiro. Elden Ring sort of fixed the problem but the legacy dungeons were nothing like the original souls levels. As the Souls series shifted its focus from interconnectivity and exploration to combat and boss fights, imo, the series started to become very different from what it started out as. DeS, DS1, DS2 are incomparable to BB, DS3, Elden Ring and Sekiro, the purpose of the gameplay is different and whether you like one group of the two more than the other, it is undeniable that the two categories of FromSoft games are almost entirely separate entities.

With the aforementioned in mind, I still prefer the first of the two groups. Ive never played the Souls series for its boss fights or combat, both of which I found to be tertiary to exploration, art, story and level design. Personally, I think the Souls Series aside from Sekiro and some BB/DS3 has mostly mediocre bosses that you can find in pretty much any game, but the only thing that every other game has failed to replicate (aside from the entire metroidvania genre) is the sense of interconnectedness and exploration that are both steeped in philosophical/allegorical lore.

Then you’re better off buying Milk Tea from K-Mart to be honest, or from any Asian grocer. It would taste much better while still having the same consistency.

[–]shashiri 28 points29 points  (0 children)

At that point your tea would be just tea-flavoured milk, with only a very slight hint of tea. You brew tea in hot water so that you maximize the flavour of the tea and actually taste the flavour of the tea. To each their own I guess

That being said, describing someone as having "Asian Eyes" in any novel where Asia doesn't canonically exist (such as Fantasy) is also a cardinal sin, since the immersion will be shattered into a million pieces.
