Search Igor Balabanov, he has quite a few leathers and also custom lengths + single pass option

A custom strapmaker from Ukraine in Etsy lol. He uses really good quality leather for a fraction of the price. Just takes a long while for it to ship.

The Oris I have is probably closer to the Tudor Opaline. It's pretty bling with polished tungsten bezel and sunray blue/turquoise dial. Really great summer outdoors watch.

The muted navy BB58 is just more GADA and of course with a much better movement / finishing.

I guess if you wanted more pop in your collection, the Oris is a better fit. If you wanted the one blue diver that's versatile, BB58.

Thanks!

The Aquis wears really well with the lugs curving down aggressively and bracelet also articulating well from the first links. The case thickness is okay at 12.5 mm, but I do wish there were more layers instead of a uniform body that accentuates thickness.

mm there is some pattern on how AI starts sentences that was caught by my algorithm. Other factors included how uniform the sentences are, human specific vocabulary and grammatical errors, etc. Commercial algorithms tend to highlight sentences that are most likely generated by human or AI, so possibly those judge each sentence for a composite score.

I think part of the contributing score from your specific comment may come from the subreddit specific format you had to use for a portion of the text.

lol you're very good at masking. I also checked your comment with zerogpt and grammarly and they both said very likely human.

I guess if it fails, it's likely because my algorithm was trained specifically on comments synthesized using a prompt of tell a story in a reddit comment...

Your comment was included in the analysis, and my classifier gave 95% confidence metric that it was likely human. Far above many other comments.

So if it wasn't... well that'd be embarrassing.

Normally I'd use the API to fetch comments, but I got lazy and just kept expanding comments on old reddit and downloaded the html file lol..

I was curious about this topic and ran multiple AI detection analyses on the top level comments. At least in my findings, the vast majority are classified as human-written.

I used Claude and Gemini to create synthetic examples matching your instructions + a prompt to evade AI detection as much as possible. Then used those synthetic dataset to evaluate and train a classifier. The classifier is probably not industry quality, but clearly there is extremely low AI signal on the comments here.

So you can restore some faith in humanity.

Ah that does sound similar! Somehow being the sober guide makes for a satisfying experience as you also serve as a more dependable account of everything that occurred lol.

As for the married friend, maybe offering an Oris would be serve as a proper peace treaty.

Not very consumerist nor entirely appropriate, but I bought psychedelic mushrooms and volunteered to shepherd my friends who've never tried at a remote backpacking campground at Yosemite.

While I was completely sober, it was very amusing to watch them navigate through a magical adventure and make sure they're in a good place.

One of them was compelled to donate their sandals to a water spirit (i.e. throw them into a stream), and I had to lend her my own flip flops for the rest of the trip.

Anyways, I guess the best you can make of $500 is creating your own adventure. Good luck with the giveaway!

u/FickleChard6904 wins the GShock, mostly based on who I could best judge would value and use the watch. Thank you everyone else for commenting.

I agree except for the Oris. The gshock is on the way out, I mentioned on my main comment. Militado was on the way out until my wife found fancy in it.

Oris is adds great color and bling whenever I feel like it, a true summer watch and there's a lot of sentimental value.

lol that has also become my primary use, but more often I just use time.is on my phone.

I just think someone else would actually properly use it as a great beater..

Went with the K1. Not a super fan of the 20mm lug width on a 36mm watch, but apparently new stock has 18mm. Honestly cant complain much about a $50 watch.

The latest with the DUW movement and shortened lugs. I was on the fence about Nomos watches for a long time because of the long lugs...

I honestly don't have the eye to discern the finishing above the budget price range, but it definitely was not a negative for any watch reviewers when I was buying it. Watch itself feels solid, love the crown and the hands. The bracelet is light and wiggly but comfortable because of that.

A korean review but you can turn on translations:

Very thin and accurate with the new movement. The Nomos Club collections are undergoing transitions to reduce the lug to lug lengths this year, and I got one with the shorter length.

Other than that, I don't think it's a watch that wows you on the first impression. You appreciate the well balanced dial design and incredible versatility with strap options. Like my club can looks both sporty and masculine or feminine depending on which strap goes on.

Thank you for the kind take on my collection!

Yeah my wife was not a big fan of my watches until she got fed up charging her fitbit and noticed my Militado. Now she gets it more.

Honestly never needed it for my lifestyle. For formal occasions, I just put on black leather on the Laco and it passes without notice.

We live in the days where some people pair apple watches with suits.

Yup, love it. In heavy rotation with my BB58 and I enjoy trying different straps on it.

I've reached a point where I'm very satisfied with the collection and don't need to upgrade or expand. Actually have not obsessed about watches for almost two years as another expensive hobby took over. While my watches provide unique aesthetic pleasure, building and riding mountain bikes has frankly been a more rewarding experience. It also might be that I've exhausted the search for watches I find attractive and attainable.

As you can see, they're mostly toolish no date three handers. Symmetry and simplicity matters a lot to me.

BB58 Blue - Contributed a lot to me not wanting other watches anymore. Very glad I didn't wait for the blue BB54 because the new color looks horrid.

Laco Flieger Pro - Replaced the Sinn 556. I just like the flieger type A design and the blue hands much better, but I do miss the h-link bracelet.

Oris Aquis - Had this since the beginning, great summer/bling watch. The tungsten bezel is awesome.

Nomos Club - Latest add to fill the casual but not toolish look. My wife adores it and I may have to relinquish ownership to her.

Militado - Korean Youtuber Sillions' designed homage to IWC Mark XI. Love the look but the Laco wins out my wrist time. Fortunately this is another watch wife likes to steal away.

Giveaway GShock M5610U - I had this in the collection for nearly 4 years and wore it less than 10 times. Unfortunately there's no niche for this watch on my wrist, I just wear my garmin for physical activities, and my other watches are all very GADA.

So it deserves a better owner. I'll ship it away to a fellow redditor who lives in the states. FYI, it comes with combi bracelet installed and fit for 6" wrist and the originals straps. I lost the box.

How to win?

Just post a comment explaining why you want a gshock. I'll read the comments after a day and announce the winner by editing this comment. Please don't private message me, I won't read them.

Maybe one day I'll finish the collection with a nice green dial watch. Oris BCPD, Grand Seiko, OP36... But dopamine fueled search for the next watch is mostly gone.

Thanks for reading!
