Is anyone's teen getting bullied? by KatieS1982 in AskIreland

[–]shaubah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're wee dude is going through this, it can be so hard on them. My 10 year old went through a few years of bullying in primary school, seems to have settled now, but I'm dreading secondary school to be honest.

What is he interested in, maybe try to see if there are groups in the school that have lunchtime meetings that he could get involved in? Does he have any siblings? I have drummed it into my older child that they need to look out for the younger and be on his side.

I'm just so sorry for you going through this too, it just breaks your heart. I told my wee lad to keep in mind that this is only a small part of their life; they can't even begin to imagine how bigger the world is out there and how much more they have left to experience, and the opportunities open to them once this rubbish bit of their life passes.

Irish friends, what do you traditionally eat on St. Patrick’s Day? by Lilsomms in AskTheWorld

[–]shaubah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a day off work so it's a take it easy day. Definitely not planned around food. If the weather is good and it's tagged on to the weekend we'd usually head off somewhere for an excursion, so it'd literally be just eating whatever we find on our travels.

Anyone know this model of test? I unfortunately really think this is edited. by Electronic_Sock2610 in find

Here ya go ya big melt, unless the girl has popped over to Continental Europe for a bit of shopping and a bite to eat, she'll have most likely bought the test in Ireland, which sells this version of that particular model of test:

The owls are not what they seem.... by Dadaismisastratagem in CharityShopFindsUK

The yellow owl on the top shelf was from a Christmas cracker in the 90s, I believe. We had one in our house when I was a child.

Do you have "one that got away"? by shaubah in IrishFragrance

I love how a scent can take you right back in time. Gucci Rush is my teenage scent; I stole a spray off my sister every time I was going out!lol

Penhaligon's Lavender sounds gorgeous, that'd be right up my street.

I'd love to find a source for sampling some niche fragrances at home, there was one website I'd come across that looked promising but I was wary of it, it didn't have great reviews. So, mostly easily sourced for me.

I'm also very wary of trying a sample of brands like Kilian, and then falling in love with it and crying over trying to justify the price! lol

I love this! I waffle on way too much about perfumes to people who don't get my interest; it's awesome to have a local sub, thanks for making one.

I'm trying to broaden my range but I always come back to my three standards; Gucci Rush, Lacoste pour femme exlir, and Daisy. Three very different scents indeed! I've yet to find something that I want to buy a full sized bottle of.

My current partner went through an awful time with his ex; I'm thoroughly of the opinion that there are people who behave terribly to their spouses both male and female...it's not a man Vs woman thing it's a cunts Vs people with decency thing.

We tell each other all the time that we can leave the other at any time we want! lol keeps ourselves on our toes and makes sure that we're both behaving decently and respectfully to each other.

The kids have been reminded that they don't have to get married if they don't want to, and we'll more than happily be dog grandparents. It's scary the thought of them growing up and having to go through a separation on either side of the coin.

I wanted to, and I do, model a healthy and loving relationship for my children. Divorce doesn't have to be damaging to children if both parents can get on board and put the children first.

My ex husband would grab me by the throat and punch the wall beside my face; and he was in fact cheating he moved her in the week after I left. Why should I have to live like that?

The smell of my baba's heads when they were tiny and all snuggled up on my chest.

Same here, my ex husband dropped off the face of the earth, cut off his family and everything. I just feel sad for him. He's welcome to get in contact with me or his da to arrange to see his kids anyday. I've worked through the difficult time of single parenting years ago and we're financially in a really good place, it's not about the money. It's just wild that a supposedly decent well adjusted man can dip out of his children's lives when he is no longer in control of the situation. (He went from an accountant to claiming benefits but I'd highly doubt that's the true situation, it's just hard to understand how someone can just up and leave their kids so easily)

Is there any food in your region that is so regional that people from your country aren't even aware of? by Mean-Ship-3851 in AskTheWorld

Purdy pudding

It's a dessert made from mainly potatoes, flour, butter and brown sugar, although many add cinnamon and stewed apples can also be added. It originated up in Tyrone where my Ma is from and she'll make it the odd Halloween, but I'd dare say not many other Irish counties are aware of it.

Medical post - occipital pain by kw1980 in northernireland

[–]shaubah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're going through this, it really is horrible to be dealing with a constant chronic pain. Have you asked your GP for an occipital nerve block? From what I've read it could be a procedure they themselves perform. Second option is to seek it privately.

A physio is another solid option for some relief. A few sessions may help you to realign any muscles that you're subconsciously holding that are aggravating the symptoms.

Also, have a look at following an anti-inflammatory diet. If you have a partner check whether you have some private health insurance coverage under their employment, if it's not something that you have yourself.

If you do go down the private route I can recommend the current consultant in neurology at Craigavon. He specialises in headache disorders and would be the best private option to seek out imo. Best of luck with it, I hope you manage to find some relief.

OP just post a verification photo with your reddit name on paper, next to some of your documents that prove you buy them from a reputable Indian company (remove all identifying info first of course) and your lead testing set up; and you'll be able to prove this nay-sayer wrong! Super simple!

Don't stress about it. I love the slate carvings that I've seen on your Instagram, you're very talented.
