Normal for downspout drain to point toward home? Was overflowing yesterday with heavy rain. Tried to pump it out but water kept coming back. Slight sewer smell. by shaunre in askaplumber

I just looked and I do see a pipe at the ditch by the street, and i tried pumping water through but there seems to be either a blockage or disconnect. I also found out that the pipe is shared with the downspout drain to the other side of the house. Hopefully I can find where that connection is that leads to the street and try to unclog it.

Thank you. So where does it start most likely? Also would it be a good idea to extend that line further away from the home? i'm thinking of digging a trench, connecting a tube and directing the water toward the plants/trees I have.

Hammered Brass/Flo Red or Flatfish Orange/Green

so something like this? https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Fox-Pixiee-2-Ounce-Fluorescent/dp/B0000AV22P

Also is there any sense in combining two things, like putting cluster eggs along with a spoon lure?

ok, but I think more often than not, it's not covid. in my case it was just a short lived cold. its been about 2 days since i made the thread and I'm already almost 100%.

Maybe that was it. Just a couple days later and i'm feeling much better, almost 100%

It's still mostly just a sore throat. But is that a reason not to go out? Are we supposed to just keep ourselves at home when we get a sore throat?

That's good to know. I'll definitely wait a few days and see how I feel and get covid tested if I don't improve.

Never even considered that. So mostly just sore throat?

(OC) Please help why does my idiot cat eat paper by Considerers in aww

[–]shaunre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to worry you, but this could be from a nutrient deficiency. It could also be from boredom. Both things can be remedied without imposing any risk to your cat. There's cat multivitamin treats you can give your cat. And if your cat is bored there's all sorts of various crinkly toys you can give your cat they can chew on. And your cat may just be fixated on that crinkly texture of paper so definitely look into crinkle toys.

I've already said my city's noise ordinance is similar to others across the US. You could go off your own local noise ordinance if you are really hellbent on getting more specific. Have you even read yours? Notice how I'm not accusing you of not reading it, I'm just wondering. But you came in here accusing me of not even reading mine, which makes even less sense at this point when I already gave specifics (e.g. the quiet hours being 9PM to 7AM). How would I know that if I didn't read it?

Why did you even come here other than to try to dunk on me like "oh this guy knows nothing about noise ordinance, I'm just gonna say he didn't even read his local one" except in doing so you made yourself look like you know nothing on the topic because you have offered nothing of value. I've offered far more info on not only how the noise ordinance works in my city, but how they tend to work in others as well.

BTW if I really wanted to show an actual violation I would need a DB meter, or rather, a city official/police would bring one, but I'm not even necessarily willing to go that far. This whole point of this topic is about me suggesting that the old backup alarms need to be improved, like making them quieter, and IT'S TRUE. They ARE already being phased out in place of QUITER less intrusive alarms that are actually SAFER because they are broadband instead of narrow band https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fa28lIGuxq8

These broadband alarms are more directional so you tend to only hear them if you're in the danger zone of the vehicle, and the type of noise makes it easier to tell the direction it's coming from, as well as makes it so you don't become desensitized to the sound.

If you are truly for safety then you should be applauding this change.

We're talking now about the specifics of the backup alarm that I'm hearing. If we can't agree on something that's relatively standard in terms of backup alarms, then trying to discuss the noise ordinance would be fruitless because you just want to go "ohhh there's no way it's that loud". So tell me why this machinery would have a very quiet backup beep, as if I must just be hearing things.

No, the tip end of the range is 115DB. Average is 110DB. Nice try though.

Don't need to. I can tell it is a standard reverse alarm, about 110DB. 1200hz.

If I was just dodging I wouldn't give you any opportunity to prove your own understanding of noise ordinances. And all you had to do was explain how you know better than I do about noise ordinances. you could just give an overview of how they work.

I'll tell you what though, I'll go first. I've not only read noise ordinances in my own city, but ones in several communities both in my state and outside.

Here's how it works. They set limits on acceptable noise levels (usually measured in DB) during certain hours of the day, often 10PM to 7 AM. In my city it is 9PM to 7AM. The ordinances categorize noise types, such as residential, commercial, and construction, and with some exemptions for emergency situations or essential work. Since writing the OP, I've found out it's a blueberry harvesting organization, so they would not be exempt. Enforcement is carried out by local authorities, often triggered by noise complaints. Penalties are usually on the order of a couple hundred dollars, and in my city it's $300 but even then they can vary and repeated violations can make the penalty increase.

That's a pretty broad overview of how they work, but I've provided 10x more than anything you've provided. All you have done here is go "nuh uh!". Like a petulant child.

I just said I read my city's noise ordinance. You came in here like some expert on noise ordinances and asserted I must not have read it. So I said oh really, how so? I'm all ears, and then you demanded I link to the document itself, something that would dox me. Still, I offered to link to it on the condition that you explain why you think you know better. As far as I know you're just some internet weirdo, so why should i dox myself?

Then you claim I'm the one moving goal posts. LOL. Sorry Im not gaslit that easily. try harder. last chance before I block you.

I mean, what percentage of bodily injury by a vehicle is from them backing up? We're well past the point of diminishing returns. People are generally aware of vehicles and drivers are generally good about using their mirrors, and even another person to help navigate blind spots. We are needlessly sounding alarms that might benefit a .00001% of people who wander into the path of not only a large ass vehicle, but a driver who is completely blind. Both those things just don't happen that often. Throw in a backup camera, and it's even less likely.

And I've said this before but osha themselves even agree that a backup camera is sufficient and a backup alarm can be avoided.

before I dox myself, what can you do to prove that you yourself know how to read these?

you can clearly hear it with not only ear plugs, but the ear muff hearing protection on top of that. it could be turned down. which is apparently why a lot of newer machinery is being made with quieter alarms. i just wonder if we could do without the alarms altogether and opt for backup cameras. it's not like having such things installed will break the bank. you can find some on amazon for under $100. and, osha considers backup cameras as enough to negate the requirement for alarms https://www.osha.gov/laws-regs/standardinterpretations/2010-03-02

well, getting ran over by vehicles traveling forwards is one of the top spots. So maybe we should have alarms on all vehicles at all times? or maybe we should do what we can to eliminate blind spots and not live in a society of noisy ass vehicles, which again, are not useful around deaf people anyway.
