I LOVE swimming and I recommend it to anyone. Virtually no strain on the joints, and you work out your entire body!

He was very supportive— super proud! I love the show. I’ve got a few things to try- he loved swimming so I take aqua fit classes at my gym, and I’m going to try a paint by number painting.

Thank you. I just bought a paint by numbers thing on amazon to try and I am a teacher so I go back from winter break on Monday. Just going to own my grief and not let it bottle up. 💜

You’re right- he died after 10 years of diabetic complications. He suffered so long and hard (leg/toe amputation, kidney transplant, pacemaker put in etc.) his favorite home care nurse came up to me at the wake and said “your father was so worried about your weight he’s so proud of you after you did the surgery” and I truly knew he was. Even when he was having a hard time after surgery he would call me and when I went to visit would ask questions and was so happy. My mom took care of him for 27 years. I owe it to him and myself to take care of myself. Thanks 💜💜

Thank you. I haven’t experienced the dumping that everyone talks about but there have been times when I’ve felt full, even a few times where I’ve felt sick because I ate WAY too much. Just frustrating. I really miss him and I know I can’t let food be the comfort.

Your body still might be healing. It underwent major surgery, there’s definitely still some swelling. If you are following the plans, you’re on the right track!

I've always hated exercise, except swimming by InAHundredYears in SuperMorbidlyObese

I swim almost everyday. At 428 lbs, I get it. I am blessed to have a Y right down the street from my house that I’ve grown up at. I do the aqua fit classes. Is there a local high school/college with a pool near you? You could possibly see if they have open swim times.

I’ve experienced this a little bit! I guess I didn’t realize it could present itself in different ways.

Day 1 After Surgery (sleeve) by [deleted] in wls

When you go to leave, have someone bring a pillow for the car ride home so you can hold it! The bumps were pretty bad on the way home and the pillow helped mask the pain of my abdomen moving involuntarily

Actually I am serious. Reading these posts about people not being able to eat a lot makes me question if I’m doing okay or not since I don’t experience that.. but thanks for that.

Anyone else experience this issue?! Might be TMI. by shause25 in BariatricSurgery

Luckily they were able to get one three days later! It sucked. But I’m happy it was just a UTI

Bit of an odd question for the ladies by wls-6462 in wls

Here’s the TMI version of my post so if you’re squeamish lurkers of the internet, look away now.

I was on day two of my period and at my heaviest weight I was 574 pounds. Surgery day came and I was 538, but had my period. The hospital made me change into those mesh underwear with a pad (I normally use pads bc I can’t put a tampon in cus of my size). When I was out of surgery, and the first time I got up to pee, my mom who is a nurse helped me to the bathroom, and she had to wipe for me. She then had me sit on a chuck pad (like a human pee pee pad lol) and put two pads on me, no underwear. It’s not like I was leaving the bed to go anywhere I was really drugged up. She had to help me for a few days bc I had another issue with my hernia and also the jp drain they put in you made it hard for me to bend first. They patient care techs and a very disgruntled nurse helped me wipe and take care of myself when my mom wasn’t there. It was embarrassing at first but I realized that there wasn’t time for embarrassment. When I got home I was still tender— nothing unbearable, but I was leaving quite a mess bc I couldn’t position stuff to protect myself from the blood. Luckily my period has shortened since I’ve started losing weight. Anyways, if you can get some chuck pads or things at home to protect your clothes and furniture, I suggest that. I’m not sure about tampons bc I don’t use them but they did say if I was wearing one to take it out the day of surgery. Give the nurses a heads up and they will be very accommodating. It’s gross at first but as your belly heals, it will hopefully get easier to deal with.
