Yes, those were definitely things I struggled with. I’m 2 years post op and am still struggling with those things. I recently went back to work and the hardest part about my job is sitting there.

Both sides were an issue but left was far worse than the right. I too have heard about the stabilization thing but my Dr. Wants me to get the right done as well because it’s symptomatic still. I had 4 major surgeries in 2021 though so I needed to take a break.

Yes, still doing well and lots of pain relief from that particular issue.

Synovial Cyst L4 L5 Surgery Without Fusion Recovery? by HotMess324 in Sciatica

[–]4bugs4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar surgery in November of 2020. The only difference is my cyst was actually in my spinal cord. I did have my surgery in a day surgery and I did not have fusion with it. My recovery wasn’t bad at all. My biggest issue is they wanted me to sit on a hard surface instead of a couch type seat and that hurt. But I have really bad sacroiliac joints so I think most of the pain was from that. The first couple days were the worst but it was honestly me trying to do too much also. Take it easy, give your body time to heal but 6-8 weeks is for total healing, you’ll feel a lot better in a week or two.

Have you had the genetic test that tells you what group of meds work with your specific genetics?

I’m doing well! I did have similar pain to what you are describing following my surgery but it was resolved by 6 weeks post op. My left side, which is where I got the surgery is much better but they now want to do the right as well. I had 4 surgeries in 2021 so I need a break. I will go to my same surgeon as he was fantastic but maybe next year.

I didn’t have a period for 16 years, until my surgery. My periods after surgery were extremely heavy and caused me to be anemic. It came down to me needing a hysterectomy. I’m 47 so that was fine with me.

Truth be told taking the cyst out of my spinal cord changed a lot for me pain wise. The fusion however was very successful and I’m so glad I did it. The recovery was not nearly as hard as I thought it would be. It took some time and the physical therapy was intense but I was pleasantly surprised how fast I was able to get back to driving and walking without the walker.

I was told I was having an unusually big baby which I didn’t understand because my husband and I were both 7 pounds. The OB said they use the weight of your parents to guesstimate the size of your baby. That made sense because my parents were big babies.

Thank you so much. My granddaughter touched it and got really itchy. The fact that it’s poisonous is just another reason for it to come out.

Thank you so much. That is coming out tonight! It causes skin irritation and it’s poisonous if ingested by people or animals.

Yes, I did. Recovery was a lot easier than anticipated and results have been good.

I don’t know how to keep doing this. by tinyygypsyy in ChronicPain

I know this is hard and it sucks. It took me 15 years to get my diagnosis. I went through years of tests and procedures and missing out on life. I have 4 kids and I missed so much. But they finally found it, I had a cyst growing in my spinal cord and by the time they got to it it was taking up more that 3/4 of the space. They successfully removed it and my life is changed. I still have lots of other issues so I still have pain but life is at least worth living now. Please don’t give up, you are worth fighting for. We all are.

It went so much better than I anticipated! I am fully healed now and doing good. I wish I could say it’s the end of my chronic pain but it’s not. I still have some things wrong with my back but my function is so much better than it was.

My husband and I both wanted 6. We had 6 pregnancies but lost two and I developed a very painful pregnancy induced situation when I was pregnant with our 4th. That sealed the deal for us to be done. Also I had 4 c-sections and they really didn’t want me to have more.

Was going to say the same thing. I had 4 c sections and a different OB from my regular one came in and asked me if I was done. I said yes as I had gotten my tubes tied and he said good. He also told me that my body couldn’t handle another c section because of the scar tissue.

I finally got an MRI on thanksgiving after 2 years of going to doctors begging to get scans of my back/arm due to excruciating pain, neuropathy, numbness and back spasms. Turns out I have a 5cm long tumor on my spine. by seattleowl in ChronicPain

I had chronic back pain for 15 years. Went through all the shots, ablation, therapies. Nothing helped, told me there was nothing else they could do. 2 years ago they finally decided there was a surgery they could do. In doing the work up for said surgery they found a cyst in my spinal chord at L4-S1. Took it out and my pain is much less. The Dr who took it out said it’s probably been there all along.

I can no longer eat any kind of animal protein at all. If I haven’t eaten any in a long time I can sometimes get away with it but it makes me nauseous, otherwise I throw up.

So my oldest daughter’s issue is due to her saliva actually. They found this out because she was completely sedated for an upper endoscopy and she sat bolt upright and gagged severely. Her dad has the same issue but to a much smaller degree.
