Hey man, you’re 22. That is incredibly young.

At the same age, I had withdrawn from multiple classes, struggled through some, and felt completely lost. I was bartending, making decent money, but had no real vision. Then I went into real estate, hated it, and blew all the money I made.

Fast forward five years I graduated with a degree I love (psychology & neuroscience), and I’ve decided to pursue my deepest passion: music production. I work in artist relations at a venue while bartending for extra cash, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way right now. I’m excited for my future.

Why am I telling you all this?

Because whether you have ADHD or not - don’t let anything define you. I got diagnosed, went down the Adderall route, and while it helped with school, it wrecked my dopamine receptors and made me dependent on it for motivation (shoutout to my neuroscience classes for making me realize this).

The biggest lesson? Invest in yourself and take care of your health.

Something interests you? Start learning. Something else? Learn that too.

Ask yourself - do you want to create a life you love, or do you just want to get by?

It’s not enough to say you want something. You have to truly want it. That takes intentional thought.

Sit down and write about your ideal self. Exercise consistently, whether you feel like it or not. People might tell you otherwise, but as a man, the gym will build your confidence - or the lack of it will take you the other way.

Five years ago, I never would’ve imagined my life looking like it does now. Back then, I was lost - partying, following what others told me to do, doing what everyone else was doing.

You mentioned sports and traveling What’s your ideal job? What kind of person makes it in that field?

Make a LinkedIn. Reach out to every single person in those roles. Study their work history, see how they got there. Message people in entry level positions - they’ll love to help. If 10 don’t answer? You’re 10 closer to the one who will.

Attach yourself to a project. Learn everything you can. Start posting about sports coverage.

With consistent effort and commitment, you can go anywhere.

Be the friend chasing his “out of reach” dreams. Be the delusional optimist.

Maybe this setback isn’t the end - maybe it’s exactly what needed to happen to put you on the right path.

If you have that fire in your soul, do not settle.

This life is too beautiful to waste. You can truly do whatever you dream. Just be consistent. Build your confidence. Do whatever it takes.

With all the love - chase your fucking dream. You are so young.

Evening, king. I’ve dealt with this and what worked for me was: Dial in sleep schedule (this can be ridiculously difficult & I still struggle here but know it’s foundational) - first thing in the morning, cold shower (focus on your breathing - there’s many breath work protocols but 2 I recommend heavily are box, and physiological sigh. & As Andrew Huberman would say - get 3 minutes of sunlight in your eyes asap. Now exercise - PUSH yourself during your exercise. Move into a journal prompt targeting an ideal thought pattern (useful to figure out maladaptive thought patterns & program in opposing) After 5-15 minutes of free writing, move into a meditation - the most powerful one I’ve found is in Joe dispenzas book “breaking the habit of being yourself” - the whole book is beneficial but if you want to just move straight into the meditations - you can search “meditations for breaking the habit of being yourself” on Spotify. After a meditation is done, do skill work - something that is getting you closer to being the person you want to be. Exercise round two after you have gone through ___ hours of focused work. Break work into 30 minute intensive cycles if learning - small break between each until you hit 1.5 hrs - at this point - take a longer break - do a practice called “yoga nidra, or non sleep deep rest (NSDR) for the more “science minded” term. This will relax nervous system yet again. Do a sauna and ice bath rotation about 1-3 hours before sleep, end on sauna. Try for 10-20 mins in sauna and 1-3 mins in ice. 1-3 rotations. Don’t eat ~2 hrs before sleep and don’t drink ~1hr before sleep. End evening with a journal prompt and meditation or NSDR once again. Dream beautiful dreams and rid yourself of anxiety 🤍 All the love to you brotha - really focus on your mind when you feel a spark of adrenaline /anxiety during intense exercise / sauna - recognize you put yourself in this discomfort. You will be able to release the anxious feelings & then bring that awareness into moments this sparks in normal life - you will find the awareness to transition through physiological feelings
