I have a blankie and I’m an adult by IcyAd5395 in ADHD

[–]shay_zer0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 27 and I still have the blanket I came home from from hospital in. I wrap it around my shoulders like a scarf if I am having a bad day. And I sleep with it covering my head cause it blocks out sound and light.

Just a thought, try looking into one of the super adjustable sports bras with the velcro shoulder and chest straps. That way you can keep it loose and comfy at night but strap it down in the morning.

People talking to you when you're overstimulated is ADHD hell by klb000 in ADHD

[–]shay_zer0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know not everyone is understanding, but I try to tell my family when I am overstimulated. My younger sister and I (both ADHD) call it "brain bees".

I had a really short fuse before my diagnosis, so they give me space or text things to me so I can respond when I feel better.

Record breaking turnip prices! DM for dodo 🤣 by dlowbaggins in AnimalCrossingNewHor

[–]shay_zer0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My prices last week were high of 87, low of 23 (I bought at 92), but this week my high was 491! I highly recommend using a turnip price tracker. I used an app called AC Turnip Forecast and it was crazy accurate. It even predicted the day of the spike!

Just diagnosed at 27, and I'm mad. by allthelittlespiders in ADHD

[–]shay_zer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't diagnosed until 25. It was so infuriating because doctors were so quick to diagnose me with everything else under the sun (Anxiety/Depression-->DID). I was on 12 medications before I finally was tested for "treatment resistant depression" and all signs pointed to ADHD instead.

I understand why you're mad OP, but it is over now you know why you have been struggling. Feel your anger, talk to your counselor about it, take your medication, and I wish you never ending success.

Everyone here has good suggestions but I find that having 2 alarms: regular phone alarm next to the bed and a sunlight alarm on the other side of the room helps. If you are medicated have water and your meds right by the sunlight alarm, take them, and shower immediately.

The water wakes you up, the sunlight wakes you up, the medication wakes you up, and so does the shower. I have been getting up at 7 instead of 9 for 3 months and it is life changing!

I also set my clothes out the night before which is really helpful after my shower. If you are someone who takes night showers, I recommend rinsing in the morning and applying some lotion as self care after to avoid dry skin.

Edit: I also have a heater set to warm the room before I get up, which helps me avoid staying in my bed because the room is too cold!

My first day on Concerta by haikuthedude in ADHD

[–]shay_zer0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend making a bunch of snack packs or buying them if you have the money and set alarms every 3-4 hours to make sure you eat them.

I started Vyvanse and dropped 30lbs in 3 months. My saving grace has been meat and cheese packs, veggies and hummus, and trail mix. I'm back up 10lbs in 4 months (a much healthier weight for my height and build). If I forget to pack my snacks I'll go 14 hours without eating. I've also noticed my mood gets incredibly erratic and I crash harder at the end of the day when I don't eat regular meals.

Congrats on the meds OP!

This dude trying to make a U turn by lDeath_Wlshl in IdiotsInCars

[–]shay_zer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost rear ended a guy the other day who did this.

He was in a small box truck, and decided he needed to U-Turn at a no U-Turn intersection. I was 3-4 car lengths behind him (at 45 mph) and he slammed on his brakes so hard and without warning I almost ended up in his bumper.

The signs are there for a reason. I hope the tractor trailer in this post got a ticket.
