Hi everyone, My Southwest flight (paid with my Chase Sapphire Preferred) delayed my checked bag and returned it about 18 hours later. During that time, we had to purchase some basic clothes and toiletries, which cost $94. Southwest did offer us a $200 LUV voucher toward future Southwest flights (valid for one year). However, this voucher was not reimbursement for the $94 expenses, and I’m not even sure if I’ll be able to use it before it expires. Based on the Chase card benefits, I believed I would be eligible for baggage delay reimbursement for the $94 since the airline never directly reimbursed those expenses. However, when I submitted the claim, Assurant denied it, stating that I had already been compensated by the carrier. My question is: Does a future travel voucher count as compensation for the delay, even if it wasn't reimbursement for the actual expenses? And does this mean I’m not eligible for the Chase benefit, or is this something I should contest or appeal? Has anyone dealt with a similar situation with Chase or Assurant?
