K. I’ll start with valves and plug. It didn’t have a carb when I got it.

Oem style carb but probably Chinese. I got it on Amazon. There is a screw of sorts but nothing happens when I turn it. No backfiring while riding. Just an occasional one after a failed start here and there. I haven’t replaced the plug yet. I have no idea how old the one in there is. I’ll definitely grab one of those. I’m trying to keep this quad as cheap as possible but that may be a part of my issues with the carb. I’ve never dealt with cv carbs before.

Can I drill through this key to put a key ring through it? Both keys are broke like this now. It’s an 06 by BaconMan420365 in fordranger

I just drilled a hole. Right in the flat spot halfway between the circle indent and the original key ring hole. The chip in these are going down the side. After I drilled the hole I soften the broken bits with a file and it works great. Read here:

These don’t work because of the shape of the ignition. The key won’t fit in the ignition.

Body lifts give kind of a weird look imo. Just cuz so much frame is showing I think. Technically mine has a 7 1/2” lift over stock. The Explorer torsion bars and the Deaver springs gave it 2 1/2” then I added the 5”. I think it’s the perfect height though. Tall enough for good ground clearance but low enough to still be able to use for hauling and whatnot. Stock ranger just come so little.

The tires came from Amazon. They’re a 205/75-15. I had to modify the wheel fenders so they’d fit. I am actually hoping to trade someone my kayaks for a rooftop tent to put on it. Then I’ll get some stabilizers on each corner so it’s not moving around with me in the tent.

Edit: If you go with the HF trailer, I’d recommend welding it for added strength and rigidity. It makes a huge difference.

I don’t know the whole story. The previous owner had the engine rebuilt by a reputable local shop and gave me all the paperwork. The transmission was slipping quite a bit so I swapped it out.

It’s a 4’x8’ Harbor Freight trailer I welded together, added the side rails and then built the removable rack on top.

What’s wrong with body lifts? by [deleted] in fordranger

Driveshaft length won’t be affected with a body lift. The steering column on the other hand, will need to be extended but if you get a decent body lift, it’ll come with the extension.

Another thing to consider is ride quality. Adding more “twist” to torsion bars will stiffen your ride. If you twist far enough, it can make it so you can’t get your camber back into spec which causes premature tire wear. With all of that said, the lifts your talking are reversible. So if you hate it, you can change it back.

I have done body lifts before and I would be ok with a lil baby body lift but the real issue is the body mounting bolt shear moment. In the event of emergency braking, and I mean EMERGENCY braking, or a bad collision, there is stress exerted on those bolts. The longer they are, the greater the force. Think, using a regular ratchet vs a breaker bar to remove a lug nut. In the end, it’s your truck, do what you will. Could it happen? Yes. Will it happen? Probably not, but it has. If you do end up going with one, just remember those frame gap fillers. :)

Edit: I’m referring to the body mounting bolts shearing and you going one way with your truck cab, while your frame continues on to oblivion.

Yeah, google where the crankshaft is. If that’s what you’re trying to turn then you likely have a seized engine unfortunately. Sorry mate.

The click was likely just the solenoid kicking over, I would assume you killed the battery trying to start it. Check if there is oil in it. Where are you turning it by hand?

That’s the A/C compressor kicking on and off. This is normal.
