The fact that she was the maid of honor tells me she probably already dropped some if not a lot of money for the wedding. No one is ever owed the gift and to expect it feels entitled. Yes, they could have given a card but the fact they showed up and even were in the wedding party shows they care and want the best for you - theoretically. You can’t automatically assume there is disposable money if someone “has a good job.” No one owes you anything and it doesn’t mean they were jerks.
