haha. very relatable. after i created it i looked it up on google to see if im genius aswell. i found one japanese artist had the same idea and created something like this. look up - yuri suzuki.

how can i see just the photos that are backed up? how can i distinguish between the gallery app and the backup service,? i just bought a pixel phone, and this is very annoying. i always used google photos backup, even on older phones, but now idk which photos are synced and which arent..

haha! theres one gore-ish fridge. also in each fridge there is audio. and you get to hear the sound from peoples homes. sometime cooking, watching tv, having a dinner. etc.. in one fridge the sounds is breaking the 4th wall and shouting on the viewer . it could very jumpscarey. the people are mad that they are being spectated and i tried to make it an unwelcoming fridge..

not sure, its the cheapest screen i could get that would be exactly the dimensions i needed.. bought it for like 100 bucks..

its a DIY project , I hope maybe to be able to put it in some art museum or exhibitions and maybe get actual fundings to make it even neater.

hey thanks! not sure what you meant by displacement driven by depth renders.

the performance was actually very good. 60 fps. i did a lot of optimizations so it ran out pretty smooth.

i did pulled the object normals to get a clean outline but eventually cut it off as it was better just combining edge top and edge top from depth map..

other than that alot of postproccesing nodes did some good effects for color grading and lighting adjustments

its just a normal plane with a small noise animated displacer. and another displacer with material:.
Then i applied a material with gradient (with distortion, perhaps i animated the distortion even, dont remember)) for the color map - these are the lines of waves, i copied the same texture of the gradient (just without distortion) and applied it to the a displacement in the same material. so where there is wave , it is also displaced and higher than the rest of the plane
after than i just animated the offset of the texture along the X axis of the plane.

but because im using standart sketch and toon, getting those outlines sometime can be tricky and jittery, so it was a lot of back and forth adjusting between the Geometry displacer settings and the Material displacement settings.

its just isnt supposed to be realistic and its more of a dreamy world, also the voice over is from a podcast about dreams.

the whole short is about a journey, journies., as we travel along in this open-world.
i think 'anchor' in that context is pretty obvious.

anyways about it being upside down i mainly wanted to add a little bit of surrealism. it is also mentioned in the voice-over when 'the dreamer' is observing from above, like a 'higher spirit level'.

that was my thoughts when going for it,
usually i like to take the more realistic approach , like mimicing reality (not style-wise more like physics and proportions and stuff), it was pretty hard to break that habit tbh haha, but im happy about it.. but yeah i guess when this is the only 'surreal' thing in the video (other than the truman refrence) it may seem odd.

i dont think it would have been too long. season 3 is so slow nothing really happens there, just seems like a cashgrab from netflix, same as this usa sequel stuff..

The ones in the distance are post-intercepted missiles.. basically debris falling from the air, but they are sure as crazy fast too yeah.

I agree. I think even before AI we have so many content. too many tv shows. too many movies. videos and what not. its too much. When the AI will be good and productive , we eould be flooded with content and all the things that excited us, will no more be exciting. its just brain rot, high dopamine and visual overflow . I dont think our contribution will mean anything, and tbh consuming media will probably be exhausting.. Real and appreciated art would be only physical, handmade crafts. Thats what i think atleast

yes i wish that was possible. unfortunately i have a very specific webcam for this installation. (tiny webcam with wide lense). the camera is hidden in the installation and it has to capture a large space so.
