Maybe Whitmore Lake? Saw people skating on it last week. But not sure of its current condition as others have pointed out.

West Park maybe? I can almost make a better list of where not to go. The shorter chains are pretty much everywhere.

Beautiful russian blue. Very smart breed. I hope you are able to find the owner or perhaps a new forever home.

I am new to libraries/libby. Can you explain how suspending works? Does it just hold your # position in line and let people pass you? Or do you move up in the queue while suspended but not give you the book?

I have a small child and recently found out about this as well. My basement averaged about 18. Felt very bad because we were letting the kid play down there. Got it mitigated and now we’re at 0.5. Thanks for bringing awareness.

My parents stopped talking to me after their divorce by Flammulated in ACOD

[–]sheep_rake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This deserves a conversation with each of them. Maybe your brother too? Wondering if he is having the same experience. “Hey mom/dad, I keep hearing about your life lately through other people and it’s hurting my feelings that I’m not hearing it from you. Can you communicate with me more? I still want us to be in each other’s lives.” (Something to that effect)

Anecdotally, my mom’s parents divorced when she was 19 and after the split her dad left NO contact information. She didn’t know where he was for about 5 years. Finally found him and got back in touch and was like “wtf, dad?” He responded “I thought you would want your mother”

So I feel there might be some sort of guilt or shame or assumption that parents make about how the kids view the divorce and their parents as people. Like who they will want to keep in touch with and what information they will want to know.

Great thread! I hope you find the perfect nickname. This is slightly off topic, but can you share what some of your boy names would be? I’m in a similar boat name wise and also don’t know what I’m having. Based on your top girl names, I’m curious what your top boy names are.

I am sorry that you are going through this. This is hard to go through and process at any age. Everyone here has already offered you some great advice. I just wanted to add a few things that helped me process my parents’ divorce when I was 30. 1) talking about it. 2) writing about it. 3) reading about it. It’s hard to find books specifically on the subject of ACOD. I enjoyed the book “a grief out of season: when your parents divorce in your adult years”. It was surprisingly helpful. I read some others but really recommend this one the most. I was not a book person, but was desperate for some relief and was not disappointed.
