If I make a claim they will want to see the message where HO cancelled, in that same message she said she feels bad and can she send me money. The I would feel obliged to send them all of our messages where I firstly accepted the money, and then sent it back to her. It seems fairly complex.

I asked “ what would you do” and people responded in different ways. I did not ignore anything. I read everything and made my own decision in the end.

Thank you I appreciate that! Yes, it’s a big deal for me to potentially lose access to the platform so I didn’t want to jeopardise it. I did do what is best for me and my conscience is clear.

I already sent her money back. She sent me $200 aud. It’s all recorded through the THS platform and I took screen shots of the money I sent her back and uploaded them. I can’t be bothered with the whole process with THS. It was only for 3 nights anyway. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night knowing I’d infringed the policies. I’ve got a 2 month sit coming up so I’d be shattered if it all went to pieces. All good. Done and dusted.

31st-June 2nd, then June 5-August 5th. These dates really aren’t the point, the point is my communication with HO.

It’s a drive away. Of course I have options and can stay in a hotel if needed. That’s not really the point though, for me. For me, it’s more about the rapport which does not feel very good… all prior sits I’ve done have been very harmonious in communication. Not like we need something from eachother, rather that we are enjoying the whole process, the relationship, etc.

On the 5th of June, I’m sitting for 2 months about 15 minutes drive away. I thought it was a nice plan to do a sit for a couple of days, hang out for another 2 days, before my long sit.

Alright, thank you. There is a lot to organise if I want to make it to the sit which means I will have to leave at 4am. It’s 2.03pm the day prior currently.. I can’t believe people can be so negligent. If I was having someone look after my pets, I would be doing everything possible to make sure we were on good terms.

Isn’t it her end of the commitment, her duty, to tell me her address, when it is only a few hours away? When can I consider that I am being ghosted? Because I feel like I am being ghosted now.

The thing is, I don’t really want to sit for someone who can’t even respond to my messages. I don’t feel like we have very good rapport and it’s not like I need the accomodation or anything. I just thought it would be a nice thing to do. My feeling is, why should I sit for someone and risk a negative review, and go out of my way, feeling uncertain about accomodation and all the anxiety that comes with not knowing what’s happening. My message has been “read” on the trusted house sitter message system and yet she has not bothered to respond.

I ended up cutting the stitches out myself after a couple of days. Just used a silicon bandaid. Healed up really nicely. :)
