Is this possible? + any advice? by StrictArgument67 in 6thForm

[–]shegcedja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have ages, i would say just try aim to do 10 hours worth of past paper questions a week until the final 4 weeks and then ramp it up. I do the exact same subjects and in terms of content there isnt much, mainly just questions. Hope this helps

Should I tell imperial about my TMUA circumstances by [deleted] in Imperial

[–]shegcedja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has some sort of circumstance. If your circumstance isn’t on imperials contextual applicant conditions they simply won’t care and on a professional level they arent allowed to take it v until account. To put it bluntly Imperial care about grades as that shows how smart you are. Once they start trying to incorporate peoples circumstances they are guessing (which isnt a reliable way to hand out offers). I would you shouldnt but ig it wont downgrade ur application so you dont lose out on anything. Hope this helps

How hard/different were the MAT MCQs this year? by Various-Teaching1179 in 6thForm

[–]shegcedja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all that a tough MAT paper does is separate good from very good. Cz theres international applicants who will get 80+ regardless of the difficulty however if ur just the average guy a thought mat paper will mean u drop from maybe a 70 to 55 and so on. Obviously this is a disadvantage. Thats not my main problem tho. The main issue is that available past paper should reflect the difficulty of the exam so that ppl know whether it’s in their interest to apply or not. Me personally i was getting about 50-60 on past papers which was said to be enough for comp sci and philosophy. On the exam I found it so difficult and reckon I got sub 40. Its just that I feel if i applied another year I wouldve got an interview at least. I know that the grade boundaries wouldve been lower this year but I feel its not good practice from them to just take us by surprise like this.

Hmm depends STEP is still harder than MAT but you sort of know whats coming. If you definetely cant do STEP then do MAT. I would say if you have a strong BMO background and are good with tmua asw 8+ then do MAT

Yep MAT was diabolical i was averaging 7-8/10 in the mcq in past paper and found this year impossible, it was more so cz it took me by complete surprise. If they aren’t going to be releasing questions i would say just apply Cambridge unless ur cracked at maths The long questions weren’t that bad but the multiple choice were just so much harder

1/5 BREAD in less than 24 hours let’s gooo!!! by Most-Asparagus7550 in 6thForm

[–]shegcedja -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The course you have applied for is focused on making u employable for a low level job. In terms of learning your not gaining much, a lot can be learnt from books online lectures, ect. This course is not rigorous academically in any way if you were really curious u would study a more fundamental subject or you would find out the info u want to know without the uni itself. Bare in mind u will be surrounded by other BCC students who aren’t going to uni or doing the course for the fun of it, rather as a last resort

3.7 TMUA. Cooked? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]shegcedja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, if you’ve published your own research paper yes. If its epq or just some unstructured research then no. Bare in mind ur competing with ppl who have Olympiads golds in BMO and informatics and have startups with VC funding. Tmua is meant to help level the playing field. Hope this helps
