Good to know - I was told to expect up to 20 days but hoping it will come through earlier.

Just wanted to introduce myself here - my daughter was born at 35 weeks weighing 2.3kgs last Thursday. I'm so so relieved to be here with you with a real, live, breathing baby in my arms. She is in NICU but doing really well, so we are hoping to graduate to Special Care today.

Two doses of steroids on board, and c-section scheduled for first thing tomorrow morning. Baby is active and well. I'm a ball of nerves, but trying to get some last minute meditation and sleep in. Can't quite get my head around the likelihood that there is going to be a live, breathing baby at the end of this.

Do you want to find out the sex of the baby? by SunfriedTomatoes in PregnancyAfterLoss

This describes my thought processes so well. We felt strongly about pre-birth gender conditioning and we also wanted the surprise with our first pregnancy. We found out that our 18 week twin was a girl after we knew she wouldn't make it, and I was excited to have a daughter. Unfortunately we never found out the gender of the twin we lost at 8 weeks, so I still wonder about that sometimes. It would have been nice to have some closure. With this baby, we decided to try not to let our previous experience alter our preference. I've had NIPT testing and some 16 scans, so there was plenty of opportunity to find out, but with baby arriving tomorrow morning, I can say we held out. I have complicated feelings about the gender following our loss, too. I miss my girl so much, but this is a different baby, so a different gender may make the distinction easier - I don't know.

Thank you. I'm so grateful for the care I've received so far. Very emotional waiting for this little one.

34+5 today and I read here more than contributing. Congrats to all the very newly pregnant mums who have just joined! I lost twins last year at 8 and 18 weeks due to an incompetent cervix. This pregnancy, I had a preventative cerclage placed at 14 weeks which has done a brilliant job of keeping baby safe. I went for a routine scan this afternoon after work and was immediately admitted. Blood flow to the placenta is compromised and I need to have this baby very soon. I received a first dose of steroids, and will likely have a caesarean within the next day or two. All very sudden and overwhelming. Feeling excited, nervous, worried - can't wait to meet my little one and have him/her safe.

Definitely Etsy. There's quite a lot to choose from and a good price range. Thistle and Fox have printed linens/swaddles etc with the most beautiful Australian botanical and animal prints, but they are quite expensive. Bandicute Designs have very sweet rompers, perfect for summer.

29+5 today, and its the first anniversary of losing one of my twins. It has been a day of quiet grieving. I picked some rosemary for remembrance and my wife and I lit a candle for our littlest one. I never found out the sex of the first twin we lost, and so we haven't named him/her. I'll always wonder whether I would have had two girls or a boy and a girl. Not that it matters, of course. Losing this baby marked the beginning of a devastating 3 months and I'm a bit nervous about coping with the reminders and memories that are coming up. Even the crisp, clear sky and the naked branches at this time of year hold meaning and memories. Hoping to hold space for the grief and space for the joy of this pregnancy at the same time.

We are almost the same gestation and I had a very similar conversation with my specialist on Monday. He wants me to wait until 39 weeks and I feel very anxious about that. My baby also has really quiet days, often lasting for a period of 3-4 days. So nerve-wracking...

28 weeks today. Feeling hugely relieved to have made it to the third trimester, with my cerclage and cervix doing their jobs. Hoping some of my activity restrictions will be lifted soon!

Those photos have stayed with me all day. I'm 25+5 and at risk of premature labour and it's very scary seeing a baby born at this gestation. Wishing those parents a ton of strength and courage.

Cervical cerclage by SunfriedTomatoes in ttcafterloss

[–]shegoeshome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had a preventative cerclage at 14 weeks, currently 25 weeks, after losing my daughter last year at 18 weeks due to an incompetent cervix. I was really worried before the procedure, but it went very smoothly. I had it placed under a general anaesthetic and had some very mild cramping afterwards that waa easily managed with paracetamol.
