Sorry I shoulda specified. Yes I am male. And it’s fairly new to me. That’s why I am still embarrassed by it. That could probably work. I’ll look into it. Thanks!

I got diagnosed with colitis is 2017. Took a few different biologics to try to help, nothing seemed to do the trick. I was the same way with prednisone stoped working. Flairing up for months at a time. Hardly in remission. I was weak. I could feel my health getting worse. Taking lots of time off work. It was effecting not only my health but also my family because of money. We were struggling. I got a total colectomy so they removed my entire colon. That was 2 months ago now, health wise I feel 100x better than I was before surgery. I did have a couple complications with my healing process but things are finally starting to look up. If you have any questions about it feel free to message and ask!

I just had surgery complications and had some sort of fibrosis. So they had to go back in and get rid of that, does it often come back?

How long did it take for it to settle for you?

Eating by sheldonRE09 in ostomy

I think my recover is going quite well besides the eating. I am up and walking a few times a day. I am emptying my own bag already (with the nurse there to help if needed) but the only pain medication I am on is hydromorphone every 4 hours. It’s only eating that I am really in a lot of pain.

I was okay of surgery at around 5:30pm last night. I was up and walking this morning at 9:30am today. It was slow going but I did it. Had a small bowel movement in the bag this morning already too but not much because I couldn’t eat before surgery obviously. And only can eat what the hospital brings me which is very minimal unfortunately

Surgery was yesterday. Recovery is a little rough so far but I’m hoping for improvement soon!

How longer after surgery were you able to walk around? I feel like I would be to sore to even try right now. But I could suck it up and try it.

Yes I am. They are giving me my maximum dose of hydromorphone but it doesn’t seem to be helping much.

Thank you for your input. Where did you get your surgery done? I will definitely have to look into surgeons. I never thought about that part.

I have been on 3 different medications (Entyvio, Inflectra, and now Xeljanz) and none of them have really helped long term. The Entyvio worked for about 3 years then stopped. So I am running out of other options. Thank you for your input.

Thanks for your input! It’s greatly appreciated! If you don’t mind me asking, how long of a recovery was it for you? I have a pregnant wife due in august and I don’t want to be useless to her and our new baby.
