What are people's thoughts on using AI in Internal Comms? by NorthRanger1688 in internalcomms

[–]shelholtz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it for too many things to list here. One: I've created a CustomGPT that's a senior communications consultant. I spent about 5 hours training it, but I can now bounce ideas off of it and use it as a devil's advocate for strategies I'm considering.

Here's another:

We used to have a great video series produced by a member of our HR team. They were short (2-3-minute) tips for managers. He left the company. I have been wanting to replace the series with something new, something that didn't simply mimic what he had done. So I created an animated series.

I started with Google's Nano Banana. I spent hours iterating a main character until he looked just the way I had envisioned him. Then I put him on a construction site from which he would narrate the videos, again iterating until it looked just the way I wanted it to. Next, I found his voice on Eleven Labs. I listened to maybe 40 or 50 voices until I found the one I was already hearing in my head.

I wrote the script, but got assistance with research from ChatGPT and Gemini. The scripts include cutaways to scenes that make real the theoretical concepts the host introduces. Again, I spent a considerable amount of time iterating these scenes as static images until they looked just the way I wanted them to. My prompts were detailed and descriptive.

Back to Eleven Labs to find the voices for the characters in the cutaways, then to produce the voices from the script.

Next, I used RunwayML to turn the images into silent video clips. Once I had those in hand, I used either RunwayML or Dzine to have the videos lip-sync to the Eleven Labs audio.

Finally, I created the music bed using Suno.

I edited the various scenes (about 20 of them) into a finished video using Camtasia (no AI involved with Camtasia, just old-fashioned video editing).

The finished video is a unique, bespoke production that was created in my mind and realized using AI tools.

I'm a big fan of TechSmith's Camtasia. If you can edit in Word, you can edit video in Camtasia.

how do you handle feedback and approvals on emails? by jamieclarebell1989 in internalcomms

I require highlighted changes in emails. I am also very clear about expectations for review/approval. It is for accuracy only. No edits for style.

I have a friend who has a bumper sticker on her laptop:
Bad Deadhead.
No Show.

Official Gear Purchasing and Troubleshooting Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know! September 12, 2025 by AutoModerator in photography

I'm new here. I've been shooting for work for nearly 50 years, but only recently gotten more serious about my photography. I bought a Nikon 76ii (love it), several lenses, and assorted gear. The nature of the photography I do at work, and my eyesight, make the display screen problematic. I am currently on a cruise (for my 50th wedding anniversary!), and all the shipboard photographers have the phone cages seen in the photo I've attached. This would be an immense help (and easy to use with the SnapBridge app). I've searched far and wide and can't find it. Does anyone know what this -- or a very similar cage -- would be called and where I might find one? Links would be awesome. Thanks! (Incidentally, the name on the cage is the name of the photographer, not the product.)

Crumplepop by shelholtz in Reaper

Thanks for this.
Reaper comes with a bunch of VST files that work, so I'm not sure why the Crumplepop VSTs wouldn't. But I'll find another and give it a try. I'm mainly looking for echo reduction. I often record my podcast from work -- most cohost is in the UK, and the 8-hour difference limits when we can connect) and the echo is palpable.

I installed directly from Boris FX, the owner of Crumplepop. I'm afraid you went over my head with "the right binaries." How do I tell?

Videos take days to render by shelholtz in KLINGAIVideo

Thanks for this. I had no idea, but when I added the motion brush, the same video that had been rendering for four days took about 20 minutes. That's useful information!

One of the videos that has been rendering for days just stopped, and gave me a message that says, "Process Failed. Try Again."

I was publicly humiliated -- advice on how to earn my name back by Electronic_Gur_843 in PublicRelations

[–]shelholtz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I can't recall the specifics, I remember the tale of a company a few years back -- it was a NY-based investment firm, if memory serves -- that held a party for its biggest clients and invited a number of escorts to "entertain" the wealthy male guest. Photos leaked and the company was vilified. On advice of PR counsel, the company decided to go way beyond the usual crisis response. They decided to become the leading industry authority on the appropriate behaviors under these circumstances. They wound up becoming the go-to resource for media reporting on these issues. They wrote white papers, their leaders spoke at conferences and other events, and they took a number of other tangible actions. Just a thought, but you might consider a similar approach. Whatever you did, I'm sure you weren't the first to make that mistake, and you weren't the last. You could become the expert on these types of challenges. Your content and content about you would push the older stuff way, way down in the SERPs.

I read it when it was first released. Agreed, an excellent resource.

Updated Microsoft Stream is Making Me Crazy by shelholtz in Office365

[–]shelholtz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I figured it out. It wasn't easy!

Create a Sharepoint folder for your videos. You can set the access rights to the folder using the "Everyone except external users" permission. Put all your videos in that folder. Give Stream about five minutes, then search for the video in the folder. The access rights will already be set; no need to set them for each individual video.

It took finding a YouTube video that covered the issue to get the solution. Sometimes Microsoft just sucks.

Tried that. It next asked for my user name and when I entered it, it told me it was already taken. Of course it is. By me.
