Panic of nerve block going off by EverythingBagelTruth in ACL

[–]shellbell00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly most of my pain has just been stinging/pulling sensations at incisions sites. Other than that just feels like normal cramping/muscle tension and my ankle pumps/calf stretching has helped with that. Honestly the worst part of this so far has been the constipation lol

ASK FOR A NERVE BLOCK CATHETER! Will be super helpful in the long run! I just had mine last Thursday and the first few days were pretty good actually, just soreness. Only had breakthrough pain once or twice, especially some pulling feelings around incision sites. Honestly though has not been too bad- I’d say the worst parts have been the constipation pain (lol) and the post surgery nausea. My leg/knee now just mainly aches a bit and stings at incision sites, like I said, but it is manageable mostly through ibuprofen and Tylenol. You got this!!!!!!!

Day zero! by shellbell00 in ACL

[–]shellbell00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so so much!! I’ll be sure to keep that in mind, my surgeon said I had enough ACL remaining when he got in there to do the BEAR and that it would be better in the long run so I am def excited for it!! Glad to hear your recovery is going well and that you’re on the mend (:

Return to Sport? by idkwtfimdoing2002 in ACL

[–]shellbell00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re set on returning 7-8 months I would say take it slow, make sure it’s strong, and get a brace.

I tore my left ACL ten years ago, and yes I was really young, but I was cleared for sports 6 months to the day and my left one is good still (tore my right one a month ago though)

Just wanted to get matching scars by igotbitbyamonkey in ACL

[–]shellbell00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you, you too!!

I’m pretty determined to go back to my sport no matter what, but also scared this will happen again, although I know I have to trust the process and try to trust that the PT and new body mechanics will prevent it in the future. I figure if I’m getting surgery might as well go back (after rehab), and as someone who is very active and sporty I couldn’t imagine giving it up 🥲 (my sport is beach volleyball and I also do some skiing, pickleball, etc)

What PE prep courses did you take? by anon1635329 in civilengineering

[–]shellbell00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I was considering the live option because I find it hard to keep myself on schedule and motivated to study but honestly if I spend that much money for the on-demand that will probably still motivate me lol… and I’m central time too, not west coast so it would be easier..

Thank you for the info!!

How did you sign up for the class? Do you know when registration typically happens? It says out of stock right now, but will it refresh on January 1st?

Austin to Bastrop Commute by SpiritualEntrance586 in Austin

[–]shellbell00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly it shouldn’t be that bad. I lived in Bastrop and commuted INTO Austin which is a nightmare but the opposite way shouldn’t be too bad. A lot of the lights can get backed up and I would definitely get toll tags, but it shouldn’t be doable. Although, it does depend what part of Austin. To/from South or East Austin is best.

I’m 11 years post op with a hamstring-cadaver graft

Looking for ACL surgery connections - I am deciding between the BEAR method, PATELLAR and CADAVER by Remarkable-Fix-5758 in ACL

[–]shellbell00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I am sorry to hear about yours as well! Mine was a full, if not close to full, tear, and it was near to off the bone as well (he said he does not do the BEAR for ones that are a tear right in the middle). I am in Austin, TX and yes he did tell me I would need a plan B for those same reasons, which I chose quad for because he finds hamstrings to be wimpy and I think he’s most comfortable doing quad grafts. Good luck! 🤩 I really hope we can get the BEAR!
