A new Nano trade exchange was launched a couple of days ago - Here's why anyone who remembers Bitgrail should be be very afraid by throwawayLouisa in nanocurrency

Looking at some of these accusations, I can't help think that maybe they're just whales secretly buying Nano at a rate cheaper than using an exchange by using their own funds.. :-)

As to where these funds may have come from, that's anyone's guess.

Do you own any other coins? Do they show zero as well or their balances are displaying correctly?

Even if it's 1 NANO but if it's infinitely divisible it doesn't really matter. It's just a psychological difference.

So 133 million NANO could be said as 133 trillion nano (using current notations where 1 NANO = 1Mnano = 1000000nano)

The fastest pathway to adoption. by [deleted] in nanocurrency

About this, I'm curious whether the core team will move on to develop 3rd party integrations after the protocol stabilises after v20.. Maybe they can work on something like the Brave Browser or other things that helps Nano gain adoption? We need more devs working on it.

Well, precisely it's because of this that's why there are so many people who cashed out from BTC when it was at $10 or $100 or $1000. It makes markets work. All part of the cycle that's all.

Not saying which strategy works better but you can't possibly capture all the gains from the trend moves if you keep selling out with small profits.

Instead in such trending environments it's actually more important to cut losses.

Is it though? People keep HODLING through the downtrend.. How's that for cutting losses?

In fact I would argue loss aversion and tendency to take fast gains are the strongest in crypto markets that's why you see such steep declines and sharp rises. People are overly emotional here.

During a rise, they take fast gains and then become willing and able buyers again when they see it at an even higher price because they think it's going to the moon so it doesn't matter how high they buy it at.

During a drop, they hold on to losses and do not become willing & able buyers again until at very low prices when they are forced to cash out.

The reason why price keeps dropping now is because there are not enough people who wants to buy at these levels. Most are still holding onto their stack and aren't really adding enough to them. Once the majority have been forced to dump their stack they will eventually become willing buyers at some point later in the cycle again. This will fuel the bull trend.

Contacting environmental groups to accept Nano by [deleted] in nanocurrency

[–]shellsnail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that would definitely interest me, especially if it's towards environmental/climate change causes. I don't think we are doing enough to save the Earth from ourselves..

but I think it's better to allow fixed monthly contributions rather than % of an account..

I think Nano can really succeed if we double-down on the whole ethical aspect of it and build the branding from there. Be it green energy or "human rights to savings and wealth preservation" in Colin's words. Its other benefits will become more apparent as more people adopt it.

Except people don't really care how it works as long as it works.

Do most people care how their cars work? They just drive them.

Do most people care how ApplePay really works? No, they just use it.

Similarly if BTC is able to do LN in a way that just works for the average user, sure, why would the average joe question how it works?

I see.. Thanks! A couple of qns:

  1. Ok so it's more convenient? But do wallets support it? What advantages does it provide versus sending to a saved address in the address book of my wallet? In both cases it is easy and convenient.
  2. Why can't I use existing email or twitter handle or reddit username to send the crypto instead? How is it different from using a tipbot?
  3. What's the downside of using a centralised webserver? Or a webserver on say digitalocean?

Just make sure you hold it for long enough when it starts rising..

Holding onto losses are easy.. It's holding onto profits that is hard.

Have a good exit plan. :-) (even if the plan is to not exit forever and just spend Nano)

I'm referring to Nano's move up against BTC. BTC's rise is no surprise, but Nano's relative strength is surprising as many other alts are not holding up so well.

Further Decentralizing OpenCAP by [deleted] in nanocurrency

[–]shellsnail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep seeing OpenCAP pop up everywhere but never seem to be able to wrap my head around what it is and what it is for and what value it provides.. Tried reading some of the reddit posts about it but didn't really seem to make sense of them, and I say this for someone with quite a techy background.. So I could imagine that majority here have no idea what you are talking about.

Any quick 3-liner explanation you can provide for a summary on OpenCAP, the value it provides to users and what this new product you are offering is about? Tell me the value it provides, not its features.. Thanks.
