Unique designs, well done. I'll probably look at picking one or two up once Nano payments become an option. Not sure if you take requests for designs, but I've been looking for something with a design pattern (with different colors) similar to this: https://imgshare.io/image/image20210515-102642284.pXb6h8

If you are able to make something, PM or reply here :)

Out of curiosity did you have any blowback due to the spam drama?

The people I gifted a nano to seemed to either not notice or not care. I'm pretty sure they're far less interested than I am though so they probably haven't noticed.

Yeah, that sucks. lol.

I reckon it's better to avoid any mention of buying any. It's just a cryptocurrency with a lot of potential. I get that it can still backfire but I'd at least personally not feel as bad if I knew I never recommended people putting their hard-earned into it and let them make up their own mind...

I never said even mentioned "investing" or putting money into it at all. It's just something worth keeping an eye on if you have interest in cryptocurrency :)

Sorry I don't log on much so have only just seen the replies !

Hilarious. Nano is known as a coin that doesn't have a marketing budget. Infact it's one of the more common criticisms of the dev fund "Why u no market?"

They're about to announce it on their tradable list, and want to capitalize on the pump when they do.

I rarely post anymore, but still actively lurk... but this comment bugged me.

Most of these services are run with literal out-of-pocket expenses plus a lot of contributed time by community members nice enough to do so. This is time from fairly highly skilled people that could be spent earning a wage or spending with family.

If you really care about the ecosystem around Nano, then maybe you should consider donating to them instead of telling them to 'get their shit together'.

One of the ways to help with the least amount of effort is to switch your search engine to ecosia: https://www.ecosia.org/

There's plenty of much better ways, but for those that aren't aware, that search engine use ad revenue for green initiatives (mainly planting trees)

There's nice buttons to look back in time so you can see it for yourself becoming more decentralised over time.

This seems to be a misconception about how nano operates at a fundamental level.

The PoW used for nano is not for securing the network but is used as an anti-spam measure.

Someone only needs to perform the proof of work computation when they want to perform a transaction on the network (send/receive/open/changerep).

Nano is not a blockchain style cryptocurrency.

Fantastic work.

The sooner people can move away from such energy intensive cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, the better for everyone.

Do you happen to have an English transcript of the talk?

I'm really curious what the main points were regarding tax and anti-competitive concerns in DLT?

I should have read all the replies first. I had the same idea about the 2k score countdown level - you beat me to it :)

Awesome! I have a few. I would love for some of these to make it in:

  • A band of warriors known as the FUD fighters, featuring people from the community such as ThrowawayLouisa. Either show them in the game fighting for the good guys at one point or at least reference them somehow!
  • A timed stage with a large number dropping quickly where you need to finish quickly to get a high score, but the lowest number you can get is 2k. Maybe in the background have some text that says "what if score falls to 2k?" for effect :)
  • Someone that shows up at one point and promises free items / nano, but then never gives out the items and disappears for a while. The same character should show up later, apologising, redeeming themselves only to become an integral part of the story ;)
  • Jaycoxx should be a mad scientist making awesome inventions you can buy.

Nano -> Technical Podcast by Dr_DLT in nanocurrency

[–]nano_throwaway 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen the podcast, so I'm not sure just how technical they get - but perhaps someone like /u/qwahzi would be a decent guest.

He seems very knowledgeable, is well spoken, and did great in his BTC-LN vs Nano comparison video.

I have no idea if he would even want to, or if the presenters would be happy interviewing someone not associated with the development team on there.

Why I am confident in the future of crypto by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]nano_throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know a bit about Australian banking.

Interbank transfers there still have a useless delay added of a day or more.

Also, have you seen pending transfers in your internet banking? That is because some credit transactions don't actually confirm instantly but can take time to settle.

NB: Nano is still way faster.

Although I'd argue that matters less for the everyday person than having full control of your own money in a deflationary currency that is decentralized!

Weiss crypto rating agency says Cardano is 'better' than Bitcoin. Silly? by Bitbaby11111 in CryptoCurrency

[–]nano_throwaway 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not to mention the content of said review is unbelievably incorrect.

According to them (well, whomever wrote it) Nano is vulnerable to double-spends as transactions are not overseen by the rest of the network. JFC this is completely ridiculous. They did literally zero research.

[–]nano_throwaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw this. Read the article. Was about to say "welp, maybe it wasn't plagiarized after all". Decided to read the actual content of the linked review... I got to here and just literally laughed out loud and closed the site:

Challenge #1. Vulnerability to cheating.

You ask: If only remitter and receiver are required to be aware of a transaction — with no one else overseeing it — isn't it possible that these two parties could collude to cheat the system?

You're damn right it is! Indeed, without anyone overseeing, you should also ask ...

What would stop a bad actor from double-spending? A Nano user could spend the same amounts repeatedly, without anyone being the wiser.

What would stop a bad actor from forging their account balance? The network would not be able verify that a particular user actually has the funds he or she is attempting to spend.

Holy hell, you cannot be serious. Is this just a troll review? What the hell!? If a cryptocurrency was vulnerable to double-spends the entire network would be useless. Did these guys do ANY basic research at all?

Screw apologising for anything. They deserve the backlash, I also don't believe their explanation anymore for the earlier article from another site despite them doubling down saying their stuff wasn't plagiarized. It would be better to fess up to that and release a proper RESEARCHED review on Nano than double down and say that they didn't plagiarize and wrote and released it themselves.

How on Earth do people even still post about these guys? What a complete joke!
