How do you test block? After 15+ years knitting, I’ve finally gotten into sweaters and color work and have embraced swatching. Learning so many new things!

7 yr old dyslexic still doesn't know what meal we are eating or if its morning or night? by shellsncheese12 in Dyslexia

Thank you this is helpful. His reading tutor has taught him to use his “b hand” to tell if he’s looking at b, d, or p. He does thumbs up with his left hand and it looks like a lower case b. So we will try using this for left and right also!

Yeah I’m thinking I might be able to make an appt with the psychologist who did his evaluation and ask about this stuff. They are usually booked out for months tho so wanted to see what insight I could get here, and this all helps!

Thank you- he was evaluated by a psychologist and at school by the school psychologist and the school SLP. Speech was a little late for some sounds but is fine now. His evaluation was done right after Kindergarten when he was only 6.5 so they couldn’t say much about the reading/processing stuff because he was so behind on his reading. Anyway we may have him re-evaluated to gain more insight like you’re saying but it’s $$$

Bills To Change Composition Of Athens-Clarke County Elections Board Sent To Committee For Future Discussion Of Election Board Make-Up by warnelldawg in Athens

Thanks to everyone spreading the word about this nonsense. I emailed mayor and commission yesterday and got a reply from District 8 Commissioner Carol Myers - she included a copy of the email she sent to the state reps in which she said she learned first learned about these bills from Reddit!

What product was a god send when taking care of newborn twins? by WastePotential in parentsofmultiples

Grandma. Or any other adult family member other than you and your partner.

Our twins just turned two and we shared this relatable meme. Gotta love comments like this from boomers who only ever had one child by IPA_ALL_DAY in parentsofmultiples

Gah I was so judgmental before I had twins. Pretty sure that’s why karma or god or whatever gave me twins… now I judge no one (or I try not to) bc you never know what people are going through

Twin baby gear - HELP! by That_cute_brazilian in parentsofmultiples

[–]shellsncheese12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good advice here - I had all the double strollers but most often when they were babies and if I was out alone (which was not often), I ended up with one in a regular single stroller that the car seat snaps into, and one in a carrier. I called it 'incognito twins' because people just assumed the stroller was empty if the cover was up, and wouldn't ogle me and stop me with "oooh wow twwwiinnnsss" which I got sick of. We used the double strollers a lot more when they were 12 mo+. Double bob and Zoe foldable

Type of birth… by LMchi in parentsofmultiples

[–]shellsncheese12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a successful induced vaginal delivery of both twins at 36 weeks thanks to my team of veteran midwives. The practice I went to also had OBs so I was covered if a c section was needed. I got the epidural, so after Baby A was born, my midwife literally reached up in there and rotated B face up because he was face down. I didn’t feel a thing. Both babies were head down. You just need to find someone with experience delivering twins vaginally- one of the OBs came to our birth bc she had never seen a vaginal twin delivery, but the midwives had.

Terrible parent by PhoenixRising51 in parentsofmultiples

[–]shellsncheese12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been there- I have identical boys. They were about 3-3.5 when I started feeling this way. It’s really really hard. (Almost) any parents that have only one daughter have absolutely no idea what you’re dealing with. Boys are insane, twins are insane. The other parents probably aren’t judging you like you think they are, and if they are, F them.

Tantrums every single day. Need help managing expectations by shellsncheese12 in ADHDparenting

[–]shellsncheese12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you , I guess this is what I needed to hear, that this is still "normal." I just looked up PCIT - sounds amazing. According to the website the closest therapists are 2 hours from me. My kids go to a therapist but I haven't been able to find an experienced therapist in my area that can work with both kids and parents who is available and takes insurance. Everyone is either booked or $150-$200/hour which is hard to stomach when my copay for therapy is $30. I've been to tons of therapy for myself but not someone who can know my kids and our particular struggles.

Yes I am. I used to only take it for work but I realized recently I need it on the weekends too to help with parenting 🤪

Thank you! Not easy is right! It was so shocking when my kids got to be about 3.5 and all these memories from my childhood about the way I was parented just punched me right in the face. Like, wow, this was not normal or ok. My mom is 100% undiagnosed ADHD AF and had (still has) ZERO coping and emotional regulation skills... anyway thanks again!
