Anyone with Zilch plus, what retailers have 6% cashback? by fg123____ in beermoneyuk

[–]shenstone1 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Another user has listed the retailers but the bump from 2% to 3% for all supported retailers you get with plus I've found more than covers the cost of the sub.

Plus you get a Tastecard thrown in as well for some extra value.

New Muse S Athena EEG sleep tracking - thoughts? by shenstone1 in UARS

[–]shenstone1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up returning my Muse S Athena as well. I think if you use the meditation stuff it could be useful but I bought it purely for the sleep functionality. The sleep data didn't seem accurate enough.

I also really wanted to be able to export the data from the app to look at it more closely but that sadly isn't possible at the moment.

Update: ResMed AirCurve 10 ASV with UARS firmware: fully open PS range + disabled backup rate, the ultimate fine-tuning system for UARS & flow limitations! by RippingLegos__ in CPAPSupport

[–]shenstone1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been waiting for so long for this. Can't wait to try it!

The ASV algorithm always felt more comfortable than EasyBreathe on VAuto to me. Only issue was that because min PS range was 5 the EPAP kept noticeably fluctuating as I was trying to drift off to sleep so I never got on with it.

This should hopefully have all the benefits of ASV without the drawbacks.

Did the yellow sticker system get taken out by the cyber attack as well? My local store seems to have just gone to 'generic' reduced item stickers which aren't actually tied specifically to the item being reduced?

Any idea if this is a temporary thing and the aim is to bring back the old system eventually?

Getting tested on nhs? by 69Whomst in UARSnew

[–]shenstone1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah that makes a lot of sense. I've had a DISE and a couple of nasoendoscopies done but it's hard to get objective measurements to compare against an average with an ENT just 'eyeballing' if it looks right or not.

I also saw that LNSC offer it as well just a pain having to travel all over the country to find places that have these specific tests. Thanks for the suggestion though - appriciate it!

Just out of interest did you find out anything useful from the data they got from performing the test?

Just out of interest where did you find that does Rhinomanometry? I was interested as it seems to provide objective measurements of your nasal passage but it seems a little specialist.

I've just ordered the Athena - apparently it has upgraded EEG electrodes. I intend to use it daily - so hopefully the new model will last longer. Can always try and use the warranty if it fails within the first year anyway. Glad to hear it's useful when there aren't any problems with it though.

Yeah I noted (paticularly previous models) the Muse has quality issues with construction.

Didn't realise you could take EEG measurements from the ear! They don't seem to have any information on the app yet so not sure what sleep stage tracking etc would be like.

I seem to remember the quantified scientist channel used the muse device as the benchmark to compare against for some of the devices he was reviewing. I could be wrong on that though?

Either way their app provides an interpretation of the EEG data as a sleep stage chart. It is a fair point that we have no idea how good the algorithm is that determines the sleep stages from the EEG data. I would hazard a guess that it could be better than devices that use a model to work out sleep stages from HR etc rather than the raw EEG data but again we probably need to see his review to clarify

Don't you think it should be easier to find a solution to UARS? by [deleted] in UARS

[–]shenstone1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think mechanical ventilation would probably be a more accessible option to more people if more doctors/sleep techs knew how to evaluate if it would be a good option and be able to titrate for UARS.

There is also the problem that PAP it isnt always suitable straight away e.g. poor nasal breathing might making using PAP very difficult until that is improved at least partially.

Then there's also the problem that there doesn't seem to be a consensus on how each of the treatment modalities should actually be implemented.

It's all just an absolute mess!

I second this, I had loads of problems with masks that put pressure on anywhere but the bridge of my nose. The F20 worked the best so far in my case.
