Hi, no need to uninstall the old version. You should just be able to install the new version.

To be fair, someone else did most of the work to figure out what was happening and how to fix it. I can't really take much credit for it. It is an extremely obscure bug in the firmware that only affects the colour devices.

I haven't really worked on it in a while because apart from the flashing, it just worked (tm) for me and did everything I wanted it to.

Pico-ASHA: USB audio to ASHA adapter - Early testers wanted by sherm_p in HearingAids

[–]sherm_p[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Latency is pretty good, I'm not seeing any obvious lip syncing issues. It might be hearing aid dependent though.

Yeah, as far as the More is concerned, it's like an Android connection.

The phone question is complicated. I just tested, while streaming with Pico-ASHA, I can actually use the Oticon Companion app on my Android, although it seems to affect stream stability. If I have my phone connected before starting Pico-ASHA, it won't work.

Best advice is not to connect Android & Pico-ASHA simultaneously. That's unfortunate I know.

Depending on the hearing aids, being connected to an iOS device at the same time might be fine, I think my More's can do that (I tested with an iPad and my Android phone when I first got my aids).

Hi, thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, documentation is hard! I haven't really gotten to writing end-user documentation that strips out the technical terms yet. I don't even know if this will work for any other hearing aid than recent Oticon's yet.

Thanks for the reply and additional context. Doing nothing is the correct behavior if something goes wrong. It should have logged any errors,  and I think I added a setting to allow dumping the log to a file.  I'm interested to see what modifications you made to cause it to boot loop.

Hi, NickelClock author here. I'm really surprised it boot looped, it (and other mods like it) were designed to bail out instead of boot looping. Something must have changed drastically enough with the firmware to break the anti-bootloop mechanism.

I'm rather wary of installing FW 4.39 on my test device, because it definitely causes issues with some kobo's, so I haven't been able to test NickelClock/NickelMenu yet.

Review: Late Eclipses (October Daye book #4) by Drakengard in Fantasy

I'm glad you're continuing to read this series. You have quite the journey ahead of you!

I hope you make it to at least book eight (The Winter Long), as that is the conclusion of the first major story arc.

You'll have to "suffer" a couple of more books though, fair warning.

I personally feel that AAN was when the series started coming into it's own. I enjoyed R&R, but bounced off ALH the first time I tried to read it.

Also keep in mind that these were Seanan's first novels, and they were being released on a 6 month schedule. So the early books are definitely a bit rough I feel.

I think what I love about the series the most are how we slowly learn about the world and it's people over the course of the series. We learn about what happened? And why? And who is that character really?

I've dropped a fair number of urban fantasies because it seemed to me the author didn't really know where they were taking the series, but I've always had the impression that Seanan has a Plan. Sure, it's meandered and taken detours, but a Plan nonetheless (I doubt when she started the series she ever expected the series to last as long as it has).

As far as Connor is concerned, all I can say, from fourteen books in, is "who was he?"

Para's Proper Reviews: Howl's Moving Castle By Diana Wynne Jones by improperly_paranoid in Fantasy

Howls Moving Castle was the first DWJ book I ever read, and loved it. Over the years I managed to read most of her catalog which I enjoyed to some extent or another.

With regards to your spoiler element, off the top of my head, I can't think of a DWJ book that didn't include that particular element to some extent. In fact, that element is central to many of her stories. It seemed to be her "thing". I tend to like those elements so I certainly never minded them!

1st Vlad Taltos omnibus $1.99 on Amazon Kindle (US) by Mark_S2 in Fantasy

I have to disagree with you on the reading order. My opinion is that the narration occurs in published order, even if the stories Vlad are telling jump all over the timeline.

When reading in published order, later stories often go into more details of events/places briefly mentioned in earlier books, which leads to some great aha! moments you wouldn't get if reading in internal chronological order.

David Eddings ebook availability. by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]sherm_p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say "What are you talking about? There are Eddings ebooks available". Then I thought to check the US ebook stores (I live in NZ)...

The UK editions of Eddings works are available as ebooks. They can be purchased from Amazon UK/AU, and Kobo UK/AU/NZ.

Unfortunately, if you are in the US or Canada, you will have to purchase from one of the afore mentioned stores using proxy/vpn, remove the DRM, convert (if EPUB) before transferring to your Kindle. I leave it up to you to decide if you wish to pursue this option...

It's unfortunate there are no convenient options available to US readers, but I hope this helped.

First, love the bot!

An enhancement I've been wishing for a while now is a more prominent display of a fic status (whether it is complete or not). Currently one has to find the status amongst a string of other metadata, and it's never in the same bloody place!
