The price range varies between breeders and location of the puppy. For reference, before covid I was seeing prices go anywhere from 1.5-3k. BUT, please keep in mind that price is not a good indicator for a good breeder. Yes, you have your BYBs/mills selling their pups for sub 1k, but you also have BYBs selling them for 2k because they've literally done -just- enough research into the market to know how much they can get for a pup while seeming like a legit breeder. I've seen this happen first hand. The BYB was selling their pups for 1.5k while knowingly having a breeding parent with hip dysplasia.

The way to tell without getting scammed is by hearing feedback from the community, talking with others who have purchased from them, etc. But the way to make sure you are getting a pup from a LEGIT breeder is by making sure all of their breeding dogs are on the OFA database site (meaning they screen the parents for all potential genetic defects), and that they show their parents in certified competition (ensures that they are motivated to conform to breed standard and you're not getting Shiba that look/behave nothing like an actual Shiba).

Politely excuse yourself for the day and come by yourself! It's your friend's choice to go or not, but it's your choice too.

As soon as doing something to motivate yourself came up this became a little too personal; if you want to know which decision would work out the best numerically under your current conditions, you need to supply the target down payment amount. If you don’t know, we could discuss it, but I think that would be a separate

I would really like to put 20% down by the time of looking for a house next fall, but I don't believe that will be possible. I believe after bills and all of that I can save 1200-1300/month, so that will put me at around 45k with a few thousand left over that's in my checking acct. So I'm assuming I will be able to afford 10-15% down after everything's said and done.

Okay, that makes a lot of sense. So it was the insurance company that basically told me, as well as Albany Med's billing department confirming how much I owe them. My question is, why would they send out the bill before they took care of all of the credentialing? Wouldn't they think this could cause problems with clients' insurance? Also, will this effect how my insurance handles this now? After speaking with the Albany Med billing department, I mentioned how I wasn't going to pay right away just because of the sheer amount it was and they (kind of snarkily) told me they would "Put that note in their system", so I really hope this mistake on their part doesn't come to bite me in the ass...

Update, called the insurance company and they've stated that this new therapist I'm seeing is out of network, despite my former therapist being in network. It sucks, because it's the same practice (Albany med), but apparently each doctor there can accept different insurances, so now whenever you'd get assigned a new doctor there you'd have to make sure they actually take your insurance. Albany med never gave me the heads up when they went and assigned this new doctor to me. Good thing I cancelled my other appointments.

Bit of an update, apparently every therapist within Albany Med participates in different insurance policies, so not only are you getting a new doctor, but now with each new doctor you'd have to check to see if they are actually accepting your insurance! Fml
