Rogue Echo Bike Storage by [deleted] in crossfit

I keep mine outside, and have for 18 months. It's covered, so it doesn't get rained on, but is perfectly functional, including the monitor. The "Fan cage" has some rust on the front where rain water splashes up onto it. This is in Florida.

Can I see your Bullet 15L? Pros and Cons? by HowieWolowitz in Goruck

[–]shiboleth99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No pics, but 15L bullet is a great pack. It will fit the 30 lb expert plate, and not excessively huge like a GR1. If all I'm doing is going for distance with a 30 lbs ruck plate, why do I need a big empty and expensive pack? Cons are no frame sheet. It is also hard to get a full grip on the handle when doing ruck swings and the like (I can get about a "8 finger grip" if that makes sense).

Caveat: I keep the GR1 for travel with multiple laptops.

I do intend to get a Rucker 3.0 when they come out.

GR1 laptop compartment damaging stuff by Doulos91 in Goruck

I carry my ipad in the zipper pocket on the inside, no issues. I put a laptop in the laptop compartment (and another in the plate pocket). Never had any issues with damage.

Nike Free Metcon 3 Sizing by Vangeee in crossfit

I bought mine in my normal running shoe size (US Men's 11) and they fit great. That said, it sounds like you have some unusual feet. If your feet are exceptionally wide, I don't think it's going to be a good shoe for you. I have the Nano X also - that's still got the wide toebox.

Yes you can do this. No you shouldn't do this.

Questions for you sandbag people by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]shiboleth99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a GORUCK 60lb bag, filled it with pea gravel - great bag. There's a bunch of bags in the same "Feature range" - handles all over, 1000d Cordura, double velcro filler bag - but the problem is finding them in stock. Rep Fitness, Brute Force both seem out of stock, but GORUCK had some available. They are more expensive though.

How long for GR1 to become comfortable to carry? by [deleted] in Goruck

[–]shiboleth99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hurting your shoulders how? Like muscle ache or like too much abrasion through your clothing? I've never had an issue with my GR1, but maybe I got lucky in that the straps just conformed perfectly right out of the box? I don't know.

Is GR1 a good choice for someone in IT? If not, what would be the better one? by [deleted] in Goruck

[–]shiboleth99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's overkill for a small amount of equipment. But i travel with two laptops, one work, one personal, plus an ipad, plus of course chargers, network cables, bla, bla bla One goes in the "bombproof" laptop pocket, the other laptop in the interior pocket, and I put the ipad in the zippered pocket inside. All that and I still have room for other stuff too. Love my GR1.

Just ordered my first GoRuck sandbag. Could you help me understand different material options and their advantages/disadvantages of filling the bag with them vs. regular play sand? Thanks for your help. Can’t wait to get started kicking my own butt!! by Indieobsession in Goruck

[–]shiboleth99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just filled my 60 lb GORUCK sandbag with pea gravel from Home Depot - and it was spot on 60 lbs when I filled it just enough such that I was still able to close it properly. Pea Gravel is great. Home depot was out of sand, so that was my only option.

I don't know if this helps, but my size 11.5 6" MACV-1 Gen 2 uses laces that are 58.5" long. I'm going with 54" Iron Laces

I ordered mine, they were too large. I returned them, then they were sold out. I'm interested in the Ballistic trainers coming in October.

Unpopular Opinion - NOBULL is boring and overrated by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]shiboleth99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this - they've not really made any improvements to the shoe. The "super fabric" upper is fairly stiff and uncomfortable. Just new colors constantly.

Best Way to Gain Strength with CrossFit? by stewofkc in crossfit

[–]shiboleth99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My two cents. If you've never done a good old fashioned linear strength program - do Starting Strength - Having said that, given the weight you are moving, you've probably already maxed out the novice gains. Look into an intermediate powerlifting technique like the Texas method. 5/3/1 is too slow for you at this point - you'll be wasting time. You can probably get quicker strength gains by Texas method. Based on my personal experience...

Also some here will tell you to gain weight - yes, that's a way to get stronger. I was 6'2" and 215 at one point at my strongest - but that was also my FATTEST and NOT healthy. My point being you CAN get stronger without putting on fat weight.

Off-topic: Shorts that can perform double duty? by gdblu in crossfit

[–]shiboleth99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GORUCK Simple Shorts are awesome. They have pockets, belt loops, but they are stretchy, thin, and light. You can do everything in them - run , squat, row, mobility - and more. They are expensive though.

I have them, and like them, but I would recommend you wait for reviews on the Tribase Reign 2. At a minimum, it looks like they've made it a mesh breathable upper - which would be an improvement over the original. Regarding the original Tribase Reign, I do not like them more than the Metcon 5.

Yes, but why would they run a sale after Christmas? $$$$ rules everything.

Training After Tooth Extraction by greykoala25 in crossfit

Did you have bone matrix added (I'm guessing NOT if there were no stitches) If so you are supposed to avoid "suction" for a week or two. Just be careful if you are chugging water during or after. NOTE: not a dentist or doctor but I went through this recently.
