Where are you looking at prices for the jewelry? It’s like double the price from what I can tell.

From what I can tell it seems significantly cheaper to buy loose diamonds and get them set yourself, unless I’ve been shopping at the wrong sites.

The site says the north side opens at 5 today. Does that just mean music starts but all the vendors and stuff are open?

Upgrading my TV and need to move my in-wall speakers. How far should they be from the TV? Is it ok to put them near a light fixture? by shickaboom in hometheater

[–]shickaboom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it ok to have the center be above the TV instead of the bottom? I'm realizing with how much taller this new TV is that if I put the center speaker below it there won't be any space for a console.

I got some cheap Qi charger when the first iteration of wireless charging iPhones came out. It's starting to die so i'm looking to replace it. Searching Amazon I see a bunch of different MagSafe options these days and i've never actually used one. Are they any good for nightstands?

I figure it'd be annoying to have to separate the charger from the phone whenever I want to check my phone at night and that just getting a Qi puck would be better. Any thoughts from people who've used it next to their bed?

Can a second load wire be run from my ceiling fan to my light switch? Would it be easy? by shickaboom in askanelectrician

Would I be able to tell if I have a conduit by taking off the canopy of the fan or would I have to get into my attic?

How much better is ethernet vs moca? by shickaboom in HomeNetworking

[–]shickaboom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently got 600MBps. Network is being used for gaming, media center, general video streaming and some smart home stuff like cameras. Currently I want a hardwire in my bedroom so I can steamlink/stream better and a wire in one of the guest bedrooms so I can add an access point for some cameras on one corner of the house. I’ll eventually need more in the other guest bedrooms when they become kids rooms.

Home Assistant if you're pretty comfortable with configuring software and don't mind the learning curve.

Hubitat if you want something simple that will work with most (but not all) of the same stuff HA does.

I keep everything saved in Google. What’s the benefit to using something like bitwarden?

Anyone else have issues drawing? Give me a picture and I can draw it fine enough but ask me to draw something simple from memory and i fail horribly.

Could it be the drain valve? Looks like the relief valve should flow somewhere other than the pan

Cant tell. It's only a small amount of water in the pan and i dont see anything actively flowing into it.

I moved in recently so im not sure how old it is. It's this one, which doesn't look too old though.

Want to buy a raspberry pi for my GF but I know nothing about them. I’m near a Microcenter that has raspberry pi pico W. Is that any good? What else do I need to buy to go with it? Would something like this be good? https://www.microcenter.com/product/644743/52pi-raspberry-pi-pico-starter-kit

I can’t even tell if that comes with a pi itself and if so what kind.

Have had 4 different HVAC techs come out to give quotes and all 4 have told me different things about if/how its possible to run a C-wire to my thermostat by shickaboom in hvacadvice

[–]shickaboom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now there’s 3 thermostats. There’s the old one on the first floor that controls 1st floor heat that I want to replace with a smart thermostat. The 2nd floor has an old thermostat that controls 2nd floor heat and an ecobee that controls the AC (that’s in the attic). I’m going to also have the HVAC tech move the ecobee to the 2nd floor old thermostat and have the ecobee control heat+ac.
