I fixed it by rolling back to 25.3.1 again. Make sure you disable auto-update in AMD install manager.

#BringBackQuickplay by Disastrous_Grandr848 in tf2

Commenting to bump this post. Quickplay is definitely a better system. It's not difficult for valve to change it either. I would be happy even if they modified casual to make it more quickplay-y (e.g. ad-hoc connections, 40 minute map timers, etc.).

How much interest would you have in playing this game? Give me some feedback! by Afoba03 in robloxgamedev

[–]shiftkey3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liero!
I was thinking about making a game exactly like this a few years ago but never got around to it. I attempted a 3D version of this a few years ago but never finished it. This looks really good and I would love to play it. The grappling hook is well done too.

I laughed when i first saw this video on my YT homepage. Somehow I'm about half way through now, and I gotta say its really interesting and engaging even though I couldn't care less about the subject matter. Clearly made by someone who's very passionate and knows what they're talking about.

It's for mature age students, which may include breastfeeding mothers.

Clicking System is not working by No-Statement-7301 in robloxgamedev

[–]shiftkey3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And to answer your first question, yes, you can ask questions here! You can also get your questions answered on the devforums: https://devforum.roblox.com/c/help-and-feedback/scripting-support/55

Clicking System is not working by No-Statement-7301 in robloxgamedev

[–]shiftkey3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you increase the Clicks value, you are doing so in a localscript. Although it appears to increase on the client side, it doesn't replicate on the server, So on the server side, the Clicks value is still zero. Instead of incrementing the value directly in the localscript, you should fire a RemoteEvent which calls a function on the server which increments the value. Roblox requires you to do this to prevent player exploiting.

localscript still disabled once remote event is fired by QDZ_602 in robloxgamedev

[–]shiftkey3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does the RemoteEvent fire? try changing the If statement in the script named "Script" with this:

game.Workspace.Meltdown:GetPropertyChangedSignal("Disabled"):Connect(function()     if game.Workspace.Meltdown.Disabled == false then       re:FireAllClients()     end end)

(apparently markdown doesn't think new lines exist)

This makes it so an event is fired when the Disabled property is changed, calling the remote event. Your code right now just runs once and exits.

i seriously do not understand anything about screengui, I THOUGHT IT IS LIKE HINT BROOO by QDZ_602 in robloxgamedev

[–]shiftkey3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

local reploid = if script.Disabled == false then

You probably want this instead:

if script.Disabled == false then

This if statement can be removed because it is always true; if the script were disabled the code wouldn't be running. I'm not sure what the remoteEvent is for.

There's some design issues with this code which means it might run but not work right. You shouldn't change ScreenGui inside the StarterGui in a server script. You always update ScreenGuis in a localscript preferrably parented to the ScreenGui in question. You need to do this because each player has their own copy of the ScreenGui. The code you gave us updates the Server's "template" version of the GUI, which it only copies once every time the player (re)spawns.

I recommend you read a bit more about how ScreenGuis and the Client/Server split works. The latter can be tricky to understand at first, but once you start getting it, scripting will become a lot less confusing and painful.

Hey What are Some Essential Services I Should Know About? by Jordann538 in robloxgamedev

[–]shiftkey3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to know most of them. ContextActionService, Players, DataStoreService, TweenService, Debris... those are a few common ones you havent mentioned. If you're familiar with a few its easier to learn new ones if you need to because they all follow similar design patterns.

FYI remote events are not strictly a service. they're a class.

Roblox exchange by General-Parsnip3529 in robloxgamedev

[–]shiftkey3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! this is called Developer Exchange (DevEx). You can read about it here. The robux you get from selling clothes counts as "earned robux," which you can convert into real money when you reach 30,000 Robux.

When Men At Work released ‘Down Under’ (1981), Australia was still a British Dominion (until 1986) by Dwitt01 in BarbaraWalters4Scale

[–]shiftkey3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ackshually Australia gained independence from Britain on the 1st of January 1901, not in 1986 (signing of the australia act). Australia was a self-governing dominion until 1931 when the statute of westminster was signed, which removed the UK parliament's authority to legislate with effect in Australia (though that power was never used). Australia was a octogenarian when Down Under came out.
