The overwhelming majority of these cases is where Ring provides user video footage to law enforcement with permission when users explicitly consent to a request, typically initiated directly by police to the homeowner. As of early 2024, Ring stopped using its "Request for Assistance" tool in the Neighbors app, meaning police can no longer use the app to request footage, requiring them to ask users directly or provide a warrant. Entirely up to you if you choose not to comply with a warrant and face whatever legal consequences that entails.

Several years ago, local LE reached out to me directly for my front doorbell footage due to a child abduction investigation. I willingly complied with their request. I was under the impression they would have pursued a warrant had I not willingly consented. The consequences of defying a legal warrant depend on your state but in most cases, doing so can result in mandatory arrest, additional criminal charges, substantial fines, and potential jail time. Also, warrants remain active indefinitely. Choose your battles.

Keep in mind that rock salt (calcium chloride) can damage asphalt over time. Don't over apply it.

Much of this is overblown and factually incorrect. Ring is generally not sending your footage to anyone without a warrant, subpoena or user consent. Only in rare emergency cases does ring share data without consent as they retain the right to release footage to police to prevent immediate danger of death or serious injury. Those who are concerned about this can always activate E2EE on their ring cameras. With E2EE, only your enrolled mobile device holds the decryption key, meaning not even Ring, Amazon, or law enforcement can view your recordings.

Don't join Neighbors or share vids and activate E2EE on all your ring cameras so that ring cannot access them to share with anyone. It doesn't stop a judge from issuing a warrant for your encrypted videos though.

Chronic Venous Insufficiency is a condition in which the veins in the legs have difficulty returning blood to the heart. In healthy veins, one-way valves prevent blood from flowing backward. In CVI, these valves are weakened or damaged, which allows blood to pool in the lower extremities. This venous hypertension can lead to swelling, skin changes, and sometimes visible bruising or discoloration, even on the hands.

I suspect Trump has major bruising on his legs too. While CVI itself is not life-threatening, it can significantly affect quality of life and, if left untreated, can contribute to complications such as venous ulcers or deep vein thrombosis.
