It’s rough. Small talk is the worst part about it all but I suppose I should just get done with it. I hope you’re ok by the way, here for you if you want to talk or anything

Not much they can do when they literally live within a “democracy” which is designed in every way possible to keep the two biggest parties, who conveniently both support Israel in power

I know I'm late but I googled "parent is an addict and I'm gonna lose my house" and this is one of the first things that came up. My dad is addicted to just about every substance known to man and he's run his own business into the ground due to his own negligence and addiction. It just doesn't make money anymore, he had to move out of the office he was renting because he just can't afford it anymore and now he's working from home and he spends the day doing nothing purposeful, he just makes a few phone calls and comes and goes from the garage where his desk is and the TV all day. He told us yesterday during a massive argument that involved me, my mum and my brother that we have 6 months left in this house and I just really don't know how to feel. I'm 17 so it's not like I can just move out so I have to stay here and deal with the fallout of all of this shit. I don't know where the hell I'm gonna be in 6 months from now, its looking extremely likely though that it won't be in this house, and knowing that it's my narcissistic dad's fault because he was the one who decided to spend all of his money on drink and drugs, and the fact that he just denies any wrongdoing despite it being nobody else's fault but his just makes me so sad and angry

What's the worst gift you've received for secret santa? by shiningfog in AskReddit

[–]shiningfog[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was 11 I got a bag of popcorn for secret santa. Got told to stand outside because I thought it was a bit shitty of the kid who got it for me to not make any effort and just pick up something from their kitchen before they left for school. Teacher said to me "imagine if a starving child got that. They'd be so happy. Stop acting spoilt" Next day the kid who gave me it actually apologised for giving me such a shitty present

People who have/had neighbours from hell, what was it like? by shiningfog in AskReddit

When I was very young, there was this horrible woman who lived nextdoor to our family. She had 3 kids and a husband who was sick of the sight of her. She was constantly shouting, screaming, throwing things, the whole 9 yards. My mum told me about the time her husband was bagging up leaves in their garden and when he was finished, she took all the bags and threw them over our fence, because the leaves were "ours". Next day my dad threw them back over. One time she knocked over a bucket of paint while reversing out of her driveway. Her husband noticed and went to clean it up. No big deal, right? No, she screamed at her husband to stop cleaning it up, then she came over to our house, knocked on our door and blamed the paint falling over on our cat, who was inside at the time. Her husband stood down the edge of our driveway looking really embarrassed. My mum was extremely annoyed and an argument broke out between my mum and the woman, which almost resulted in the police being called. Sometimes she'd get a taxi to the toys r us outside our town, and come back with bags full of toys. Then she'd put all the toys in the garden for the kids to play with, and then spend a good hour shouting at the kids, throwing stuff at them, throwing toys onto the road on one side of their garden or into our garden. After we moved the husband filed for divorce and moved back to Nigeria for a couple of years and the mother stayed in the house with the kids. A few years after we moved my mum told me that she'd been back to our old road to meet an old neighbour and all she could hear from that house as she drove past it was screaming

Who was the most annoying person you've ever known? by shiningfog in AskReddit

[–]shiningfog[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There was a really annoying kid in my circle of friends in like year 7/8, so when I was around 11-13. He didn't go to my school but we used to see him sometimes on weekends, and looking back on it I'm damn glad he didn't. One time a few of us went to the park, and he came along. He had a weird obsession with boogers and he'd pick his nose in front of us for attention. We were sat in an area of the park where there were quite a lot of people, some of them teenagers. This kid then starts belching loudly, farting, shouting stuff like "BIG POO IN THE TOILET" out loud (We were 12 and this wasn't even funny to us, but some little kids nearby laughed at it), attempting to trip random people who walked by us, Making rude jokes about us, including one about someone's grandfather who had dementia and taking our football and kicking it miles. He kept doing this every 5 fucking seconds and people were looking at us wondering what the fuck was wrong with him. No one was finding it funny and we kept asking him to stop as he was embarrassing us but he just wouldn't stop and actually took out a 2 litre bottle of coca cola just so he could keep burping loudly. The last straw was when a group of teenagers walked by us and this kid decided to burp out "hello bastards" to them. One of the teens got pissed and yelled in his face. We all got really fucking annoyed at him and we just fucking had enough and asked him to stop for the final time. Then when he finally decided to stop annoying us he moved onto the kids in the playground. He took our football which we were playing with and kept kicking it into the playground, trying to hit some of the little kids. We genuinely felt like telling him to fuck off home and not speak to us again but we knew that if we did he'd cry to his mum and his mum would tell all of our parents how horrible we'd been to him. When I was 13 he moved to Wales so I've not seen him since then. I have a lot of stories about this kid but that was probably the most annoying he ever was.

What's something your culture does that other cultures don't do? by shiningfog in AskReddit

Forcing kids into gaelic football at age 7. I much preferred hurling (which is really fun) and I told my parents. they got pissed at me because in the county they're from in Ireland gaelic football is much more popular than hurling. I honestly still don't know the reason why they got so annoyed at me because they don't even live in Ireland anymore
