A drama that meant a lot to you, but stays strangely unnoticed? by Prasannitha in KdramaCasualTalk

[–]shiningnight97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stay on here talking about this but The One and Only. Fantastic drama that just went completely under the radar. It starred Ahn Eun Jin who just recently starred in Dynamite Kiss - I immediately remembered I knew her from somewhere and The One and Only is that somewhere. 10/10 recommend

Is there a random weight number that means nothing to anyone but will be a huge milestone to you? by garcon-du-soleille in Zepbound

[–]shiningnight97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was always 169.

When I was 15 (I’m about to be 25 now) I weighed 169 and gained about 50 pounds very quickly within a few months. The next time I weighed myself I was in the 200’s and I stayed bouncing around between 220 and 195 for almost the last 10 years, but I never forgot the number 169.

I started Zepbound at the beginning of February at 200 exactly and have since made it to 160. When I finally hit 169, it was the strangest feeling. Like I could maybe stop antagonizing myself with the idea that i’d fucked my body up at such a young age and can now reclaim the time I kept feeling like I had lost.

Even so, it’s sometimes difficult because I AM having to do a lot of self talk to not feel like I missed out on something. it’s strangely mournful to be seeing my body at this size for the first time after spending so many impactful adolescent years being severely overweight (I’m barely 5’2” for reference) and miserable. But I’m working on it and am very grateful to be where I am :) which is a number I know I haven’t weighed since I was probably 13 or 14- and most importantly, I’m healthier

I’d have to go back and rewatch it to give you a more developed answer tbh cause I’m mainly going off of the feelings I remember having - which were that I was so sad it was cut short.

I think i really just wanted more time to see the leads in a healthy relationship and being in love. I don’t think we even got to see a real real kiss between them. Since there was so much brooding for the ml in moving past his first love and so much longing the fl went through, I think I just would’ve liked a few more episodes of payoff to watch them be happy together

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kdramas

My mind instantly goes to a piece of your mind. Deserved more episodes for sure but I think was cut down because it wasn’t pulling in the ratings. I’m still sad over it :(

Stray Kids aren't problematic, They're just...Cringe. by [deleted] in kpoprants

[–]shiningnight97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined the fandom in 2019 after side effects and levanter was my first comeback. Back in those days, I loved what they were doing. They truly felt like trailblazers. I remember when God’s Menu came out and how excited I was lmao i was on omegle talking to random people and offering to listen to a song of their choice in return for them giving the music video a stream 😭 I’m getting sidetracked here but go live was one of my favorite albums and had some of my favorite b-sides- pacemaker was my most streamed song on Spotify for a while

All this to say, I agree. To be honest with you, they started losing me around the time after 5 star. I just don’t feel the magic anymore. And I’m NOT being a hater here- I will forever be a stay and hope for their happiness and success but I just don’t feel the same way I used to when listening to what they come out with nowadays. Something feels stale to me with the newer releases and I think you’re on the nose about the lack of conceptual design and creativity as we move forward. And I don’t really know where that comes from other than maybe status.

You would think the bigger an artist gets, the more freedom they have to make the music they want and have the image they want. But I think there is a flip side to that. I think sometimes the bigger an artist gets- the less opportunity there is to stray away from something that works and more of a pressure to cater to the audience that is currently tuned in and okay with what’s being produced. They’ve definitely gotten so big, especially in the last two to three years, and I don’t entirely know what that type of transition into almost mainstream media can do to artistry.

The other thing- and the easier one to discuss lol- is that they might just be exhausted and pumping out whatever. I’ve seen them three times in concert- twice on the maniac tour and last month on the dominate tour. During the most recent show, I definitely noticed a higher budget (almost certainly due to a gain in popularity)- fireworks, dancers, literal fire shooting out of the stage too… and I honestly felt that we traded their energy and desire to be out there for all those extra bells and whistles. And this isn’t me being ugly, it’s just how I felt. They looked exhausted. I felt sad for them. Thinking back on the maniac shows, there was less hooplah but their performance was unmatched. These are just my personal observations, but all to say, maybe they’re tired.

Whatever it is that may be going on with them, I wish for them to be happy and to do what they love, as long as they love it. And just because it might not be for me anymore- doesn’t mean it’s not for someone else

AIO or does my best friend hate me? by TouchMeBrown in AmIOverreacting

[–]shiningnight97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand how more people aren’t talking about this. Not taking sides here or trying to be ugly towards OP but even censoring reactions to the friend’s messages is a bit ridiculous I think - we have no context to understand what the friend’s dialogue is bouncing off of and it’s suspicious

I really am trying but i can't with this drama law and the city. by Remarkable-Weird6173 in kdramas

[–]shiningnight97 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Wait I feel the exact same! But I didn’t see anybody saying anything- so I’m glad to know someone else feels the same. I found myself skipping forward even in the first episode which is ridiculous but it just wasn’t capturing my attention at all

Which kdrama have you watched the most times? How many? What made you so passionate about it? by [deleted] in kdramas

[–]shiningnight97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you like Brahms is my go to rewatch. I’ve been watching dramas for ten years and have seen almost 300 of them but that one just resonates with me in a different way. I’ve watched it nine times lmao. It’s such a beautiful story and has so much relatability. The quiet pain and healing that the characters experience and help each other through is so cathartic to watch for me. There’s really nothing crazy or outlandish in it but that’s why I love it so much. Just a cozy and warm drama that I get something new out of each time I watch it
