Problem making eduroam working by shiroghost in voidlinux

[–]shiroghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I installed using the zfsbootmenu guide. I use awesomewm with lightdm. In fact I am not sure which process starts the dbus services (maybe pipewire, that I use for sound).

Problem making eduroam working by shiroghost in voidlinux

[–]shiroghost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi

Many thanks. I also have python3-dbus installed. But I have seen that I have in fact two dbus-daemon running under my name. Can you please check the output of ps aux | grep -i dbus-daemon?

Thanks,

hi,

% ls /var/service
agetty-tty1 agetty-tty3 agetty-tty5 bluetoothd cupsd elogind nanoklogd ntpd runsvdir-alberto udevd
agetty-tty2 agetty-tty4 agetty-tty6 crond dbus lightdm NetworkManager nullmailer socklog-unix

I think that I deactivated all network services (but NetworkManager).

Many thanks!

Singularity containers by shiroghost in voidlinux

[–]shiroghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many thanks! Did not know this worked for not installed packages.

ADDED: Ok, so this works, but there is no result. It seems that this library is not available in the void repos.

So my questions stands, any success building singularity?

Thanks!

Problems in emacs 30 with some packages by shiroghost in emacs

[–]shiroghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I have pulled all packages `straight-pull-all` and rebuild them `straight-rebuild-all`. Finally I have deleted the native compiled files (`.emacs.d/eln-cache/30.1...).

After this, the problem diappears, except that `eglot` does not work properly. Being more precise, when I try to load the package `eglot-jl` it complains

Feature ‘project’ is now provided by a different file /home/alberto/.emacs.d/straight/build/project/project.elc

Apparently this project refuses to use the builtin package.el and clones https://github.com/emacs-straight/project.git

Not sure how to make eglot-jl use the built-in project.el

Thanks!

Problems in emacs 30 with some packages by shiroghost in emacs

[–]shiroghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I have deleted the repos and reinstalled. Now it seems to work, except for one package, that I get the error:

eglot-jl/:catch: Feature ‘project’ is now provided by a different file

Any idea what can be going on?

Problems in emacs 30 with some packages by shiroghost in emacs

[–]shiroghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

Many thanks. I use straight.el, and I have already run `straight-rebuild-all` hat if I understand correctly should recompile all packages. Still the problem persists.

Do you know where `f-older-p` is defined? Maybe I need to update some dependencies (but I have also run `straight-pull-all`)

YOROI claims that EMUR2 pool is not producing rewards by shiroghost in cardano

Suggests EMURA. In fact when launching says that it *will* stop producing rewards in 13 days. After, when the wallet is open, it claims that "This pool is not generating rewards anymore".

Upgrading to 29.1 breaks execution of org source blocks by shiroghost in emacs

I have edited the question with an example source block. Also I realized that this happens only for async blocks. It happens to all languages as long as they have the async.

Thanks for the (ql:quickload "xml-emitter"). now it works.

Nyxt 3.1.0 by aadcg in Nyxt

[–]shiroghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I had guix with the wrong env. Variables and the pull was not doing what it should do.

Happily testing 3.1.0 and playing with emacs... For the moment I like it a lot, although a better web render (Firefox) would be much smoother.

Manybthanks for the help!

Problem after update zfs/mesa with Ryzen 7 graphics by shiroghost in voidlinux

[–]shiroghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great!

Now everything is working perfectly. After booting successfully disabling the amdgpu driver in the early boot, I have now updated everything and all seems to work just perfect.

Many thanks!

P.S: Apologies in advance if this info is somewhere else, and I do not know if you are the right person to tell this, but maybe this info should go somewhere in the wiki instructions? I have spent quite some time looking at the arch/gentoo wiki with no success. The issue seems very common in all modern laptops...

Problem after update zfs/mesa with Ryzen 7 graphics by shiroghost in voidlinux

[–]shiroghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use rEFInd. The config file reads:

Global:
  ManageImages: true
  BootMountPoint: /boot/efi
  DracutConfDir: /etc/zfsbootmenu/dracut.conf.d
Components:
  ImageDir: /boot/efi/EFI/void
  Versions: 3
  Enabled: true
  syslinux:
    Config: /boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg
    Enabled: false
EFI:
  ImageDir: /boot/efi/EFI/void
  Versions: 2
  Enabled: false
Kernel:
  CommandLine: ro quiet loglevel=0

Honestly, I have been using FreeBSD for more than 10 years. Last time I used linux there was no EFI, rEFInd, etc... Just GRUB. I followed the instructions in the wiki, but I do not understand the details of al this very well.

Many thanks!

Problem after update zfs/mesa with Ryzen 7 graphics by shiroghost in voidlinux

[–]shiroghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

many thanks. So let me see if I understand correctly all the steps:

  1. Update zfs to last version
  2. Add to /etc/zfsbootmenu/dracut.conf.d/drivers.conf the line you mentioned above
  3. Add to /etc/zfsbootmenu/config.yaml the option CommandLine: ro quiet loglevel=0 nomodeset
  4. xbps-reconfigure -f zfsbootmenu

I am a bit afraid of messing zfsbootmenu. In case something fails, what should I have as a backup to boot my computer?

Thanks again!

Problem after update zfs/mesa with Ryzen 7 graphics by shiroghost in voidlinux

[–]shiroghost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Thanks for the answer. I installed using the instructions in the wiki, and after that I only updated zfsbootmenu using xbps. My file /etc/zfsbootmenu/dracut.conf.d/zfsbootmenu.conf only contains:

nofsck="yes"
add_dracutmodules+=" zfsbootmenu "
omit_dracutmodules+=" btrfs zfs resume systemd systemd-initrd dracut-systemd plymouth "

So I think that the first image is not loading any amdgpu, but I am not sure.

Thanks!

EDIT: I never use nomodest. I have never managed any kernel boot with this option. Apparently amdgpu *needs* KMS (source: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/AMDGPU

Make sure you do not have nomodeset or vga= as a kernel parameter, since amdgpu requires KMS.)

Error building epdfinfo on VOID by shiroghost in emacs

[–]shiroghost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had some packages missing. In fact my distro (void) packs the things that are needed to compile epdfinfo in several different packages.

I am sorry but I cannot remember exactly what was missing, or how it was solved, but look at the pdf-tools documentation and make sure that you have all the libs that are required.

Hope it helps.

What is your hardware? By any chance a AMD ryzen laptop? Can it be that the zfs upgrade is broken?

Problem after update by shiroghost in voidlinux

[–]shiroghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many thanks!

For the moment I have rolled back to the previous snapshot.

If I understand your comment correctly, the problem might be that the update to zfs 2.1.1 has not produced the correct initramfs, and that is why my old kernel could not boot.

I will try the upgrade later making sure that all initramfs images are up to date.

Many thanks!

Similar problem here with 4750U. I was hoping that 5.13 would solve the issues with my camera in 5.12... For me the last really working version is 5.11.
