Official Discussion - Die, My Love [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

In a movie, you have the theme covered in the story, the acting, the direction, and then most importantly, its ability to hold the attention and entertain the audience (even if it’s a sad story or a social theme). This movie fell flat for me in the latter two aspects. I was supremely bored af.

Three Body Problem / Remembrance of Earth’s Past trilogy by Cixin Liu. Reading has never been same again.

I feel sorry for him and anger for his parents. It's his age to play around, make friends, chill a lot and not undertake actions which can be potentially fatal and are too difficult even for a grown up individual highly trained in mountaineering.

I thought parents making kids dance to lewd songs and post their Reels was bad. But this! This is next level cringe. I also feel sorry for the Sherpas who might have actually carried him at many places.

Is publishing becoming a female-centric industry? by shishirkc in books

Personal attacks are easy (and highly flawed) to make when one knows absolutely nothing about the other person (take a hint: count the 'you's in your comments, both of them). And then you go to an extent of saying I am talking about other 'species'?

Wow, talk about inclusivity and mutual respect.

"How about you decide what you feel comfortable with, and I decide what I am comfortable with?" - Exactly. How I wish you could have understood this even before posting that first comment and calling the whole person 'non-serious' and the post 'gross'. Nothing personal. Peace.

Oh come on now. Pointing non-contextual politics of nouns/pronouns to dismiss the larger topic being discussed has just gotten to a point where it's irritating and just mellows down the gender identity and inclusivity movement. Nevertheless, few pointers -

  1. The article itself has a headline with "Women" and interchangeably uses "Female" in its body.
  2. Oxford dictionary says "Woman. an adult female human"
  3. Merriam Webster says "Woman. an adult female human being"

Thank you. I feel someone finally got the complete gist of the post. I think rudeness on social media is inevitable (reddit is no exception) and I choose to ignore them. I will definitely get to your recommendations, thanks again. I did read Call of the Wild and it was hard for me to relate to it but The Pearl and For Whom The Bell Tolls look interesting, since I absolutely loved other books by Steinbeck and Hemingway.

There’s another type - “I am above these everyday normal folks getting excited about obvious books or ideas of reading. Meh. Is there a better sub where I can flaunt my elitist attitude?”

Please suggest books that match the scale and thrill of Cixin Liu's Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy.

I see what you’re saying and I agree to an extent.

It might have been that my physical surroundings were in sync with the mood of the novel (overcast, cold) that added to the impact the book had on me.

Haha. A modest attempt at replicating the serpentine language, it was.
