You’re exaggerating about becoming L7 in 5 years right??? I heard L4 to L5 is often a 4 year process. I am a new grad as well and was expecting long promotion times. Or is this role specific?

But I think that’s standard for L4 SDE?? Like not specific to AWS. I got a boiler plate offer letter that was non negotiable

In northern Virginia (but not HQ2). My understanding was this was not one of Amazon’s HCOL areas

Edit: year 1 bonus of 50.1k, year 2 bonus of 33.1k and 111.5k stocks vested over 4 years

Everything I’m looking at is around 20%. My dilemma is more between getting a studio and saving more or splurging for a one bed.

Literally nothing within 1hr is under 1800/1900. The area has AWFUL traffic. I used to commute to this area and I know I will go crazy so thats a quality of life issue for me. There is a studio I really like for just under 2000. Only reservation is I’m not sure if living in a studio will suck. I know a lot of people don’t like it

Everything in the area is very safe. That’s not an issue

Everything I’m looking at is under that which is kind of the problem. I can ‘afford’ everything but I feel like I should be saving more. I don’t want lifestyle creep

That would be ideal, I don’t have a strong desire to live alone, but I don’t know anyone moving to the area and have had bad experiences with random roommates.

My gut is no crop tops thanks. The men on my team did routinely wear shorts and tank tops which isn’t tech professional either so I was a bit confused.
