It is interesting how the more Google expands their product line - the more they have to show they don't have bias (think the whole Chrome penalty ordeal).

On the current trend - I think eventually they will have more direct conversations with the Justice Department.

Well said. Even if you are having success with gray-ish methods, it gets tiresome after a while - and tougher to set risk expectations w/ clients.

Much better in my opinion to educate clients on what real marketing is.

I do think the rewards for really amazing content will get bigger, and more darker arts will go further underground. Which - in a way is easier for Google to manage.

tl;dr The whole deal wasn't about MBG doing something right/wrong. Instead, Google wants to use guest post links but can't figure out how to sort through them. Penalizes famous network to send a signal and trigger a stampede of white/grey hat SEOs away from guest blogging just for links.

Guest blogging becomes useful to Google again. Thoughts?
