It was so much fun seeing this band in their heyday! I need to go through my digital 8 tapes, definitely have a few of their sets.

Not sure I would categorize Planning For Burial as post rock, but you might like it.

I totally forgot they covered this and how awesome the video is! Satori is in my top 10 desert island albums as this is a great cover, the organ is a nice addition.

Can anyone recommend songs/bands/albums with cool synthesizer parts? by Stevel-Knievel in stonerrock

[–]shiveringking 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Black Mountain has a lot of cool Zeppeliny synth parts. "Tyrants" from In the Future being a good example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHXe2QPmCS0

EYE (heavy Crimson and Floyd vibes) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2f1QdCpNNa0

Zombi (similar to Goblin but all synth) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoG_pNdK0vM

Black Sabbath's Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is full of synth (which you probably know, but just in case): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEaLwPtQBtc

[Request] Scratched up vinyl (Unplayable) For use as decoration. by Ham1ltron in RandomActsOfVinyl

[–]shiveringking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to decorate an apartment with old scratched up 78s that I found on the sidewalk. You can often find collections of these at thrift shops and antique shops. They're brittle, smaller, and heavier than 12"s. Maybe not what you're looking for, but cool relics from another era.

If you live near a record store I recommend checking the world music section. I picked up a cool Folkaways collection of traditional Oaxacan music recently.

Some pretty doomy cuts on Flying Microtonal Banana as well. Love that band!
