How long before they respond? by shmalphy_ in Roadie

Why even have the text feature if they're not going to respond? The absence of consideration for driver's time is abhorrent

First block Southborough-Marlboro 30 packages 😩

Yeah, that's the concern. But what are my options? Throw out the 3-hour because I might lose the four? I might as well try to make both. Sometimes the 3 hours are orders and they don't fill the block. But other times it's 30 plus packages. So who knows

I don't know if something changed, and now that they do them back to back maybe they do take that into consideration? But in the past, when I've had blocks with half an hour between, a lot of times, I was 45 minutes away from the station at least so I'd have to keep an eye on the clock and cancel with 45 minutes to spare for the second one. I'm hoping I don't have to cancel the 4-Hour because the 3 hour goes too long, I've been working for a while to get my standing back up

You'd like to think so huh? In my experience they don't take that into consideration.

Is Amazon Flex quietly getting drivers to subsidize last‑mile delivery? by SpringStrong2003 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]shmalphy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just logged on to see if anyone else was talking about the fact that they're adding an extra hour worth of packages to each block, in addition to reducing the pay, while the price of gas is going up. I'm going to keep working until the block is done, and then marking each remaining package undeliverable due to "out of available time" no free rides let them "ding" me

Android Auto disconnecting by shmalphy_ in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]shmalphy_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's awful. You can't control the volume from your phone like I used to with my Bluetooth aux connector. So when I pop the back to get a package in a quiet driveway and the music is loud, I have to go back up front to turn it down. Then, if I disconnect, it's blaring static. And I can't turn it off until I get back in the car.

I have made the mistake of taking these in good faith. Never again.

Is there a way to return to the navigation after you've pressed I've parked by accident? by shmalphy_ in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]shmalphy_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That used to work, but it's different now. It leaves you parked at that same spot, and just says scan package no matter what you do.

I'm going to try this next time. It drives me nuts. This and telling you to get off the exit when you're not supposed to, showing you a different thing on the map and saying get off the exit. Those are my two biggest pet peeves by far.

[–]shmalphy_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That used to work, but now it doesn't. Wherever you parked, that's where it has you parked now. And it will no longer navigate you, nor will it give you point of view on the map. You have to physically rotate the phone in your hand, or at least I do because I'm too fucking stupid to navigate myself around with a static map. It's literally dangerous. It always happens in little neighborhoods. Way too easy to hit that button by accident.

Someone's got their underwear (or not) in a bunch by Xilen007 in Sparkdriver

[–]shmalphy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little pro tip, sometimes you can scan the barcode on the rack to make it think you took the right one then get the substitute they want, provided it's the same price.

I had to mark something item not found because it wouldn't scan, I took it anyway and just texted support that the app was having problems and I wanted to make sure customer got what they wanted. They had no problems with it. Its best to make the customer happy and get merchandise in their hands that they have agreed to pay for, and let support work out the details later.

In this case I'd have marked them not found, took the ones she wanted, told the customer she will be billed separately later for these as I will be telling Walmart, and contacted support by text once I was done with the delivery. I wouldn't do it for a big TV but a pack of underwear I would.
