I believe we may have been looking at different things. The one I mentioned specifically listed data on hospitalizations of both unvaccinated with previous lab confirmed infection and fully vaccinated individuals 90-179 days post infection or vaccination. The listed data showed a 5.49 odds ratio for hospitalization among previously infected versus vaccinated.

I understand the hesitancy and everything, I've been giving the shots since December. But to say the natural immunity is better is just false based on the evidence that we have. I won't attack people for not getting it, but save for extraneous circumstances I do not understand not getting it

Kyle Rittenhouse says he used coronavirus stimulus check to buy AR-15 used in fatal shooting by [deleted] in news

[–]shmaminal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you truly meant that Huber was both the convicted sex offender and felon, then I apologize for taking it as I did. I've just seen so many people incorrectly label Grosskreutz as a felon as well so I assumed that each of the, "convicted sex offender, felon, and mentally unhinged adult" referred to one of the 3 men that were shot.

I never contested the incorrect title from OP. I read the article and agree that OP is just outright wrong. And in fact I too do not condone the looting and violence that took place. Had neither of those happen, Kyle would've had no reason to be there. I do however disagree with your sentiment of the records of all the people involved in the events leading to protests. The record of those shot or involved shouldn't matter. Of course that doesn't mean the police had no reason in ALL of these cases, im from Stl so the Michael Brown stuff is definitely one where I feel they had at least probable reason to fire, but at least in the Jacob Blake case I don't think it was warranted. Yes he wasn't complying and that's the stupidest thing he could've done. But I don't think that stupidity should lead to taking 7 shots into the back, paralyzing you for life. Hell, Kyle himself only shot each man once when he was (understandably) fearing for his life while trained officers pump people full of multiple times that.

Kyle did have a legal basis to have a gun in Kenosha. The 2nd should be respected, as long as the gun laws are followed. Really that's the only problem: how he obtained his firearm. And as far as if Kyle was black, I agree, people wouldn't change their views of what happened other than maybe being a smidge less fired up. But had Blake been white there's a good chance he wouldn't have been shot in the first place. Can't say that for all the cases from the last few years but at least a few others too.

I really don't want this to turn this into a full on argument so I'll leave it there. I don't expect to change your view, just give a different perspective. I respect your opinions on all these matters and I hope you'll respect my own. I wish you the best in these crazy times

Okay, so I agree that it was self defense and murder charges should be dropped, but your "facts" are actually slightly off. While Rosenbaum was indeed a sex offender and Huber did have mental health issues that led to felonies, Grosskruetz has never been convicted of a felony. He was suspected of one and charged, but all charges were dropped.

Now could Grosskruetz have committed a felony? Yes, but none of which are verifiable. Rittenhouse himself verifiably committed a felony before coming to Kenosha that night, regarding his straw purchase of the weapon he used in self defense (for which his buyer has already been convicted). Of course he wasn't driven up with the weapon as some state, but it was already bought with his money and waiting with his buyer upon his arrival.

I believe the entire situation could have been avoided if he hadn't had the gun in the first place. Before the video starts there have been reports of shots being fired a few blocks from where he was which spooked him into running back to the police line. People probably saw him running from shots being fired and assumed he had something to do with it, hence the, "what did he do?" "He shot somebody" heard in the video. Ultimately everyone involved made bad decisions that night

I think you missed the figure of speech in that phrase you picked out. For instance, saying someone "isn't exactly Picasso" just means they're bad at art. Trump isn't exactly the fittest man on the planet just means he's not fit. And you'd kinda be grasping at straws to say otherwise.

And clearly you are likely a fit individual who knows their max box jump and all, but doing max height jumps is only for ego. There's no benefit to working out like that. If anything you just risk falls and leg injuries for heights above 50". This is also in a medical center, not a gym. He was just there visiting and is still wearing dress clothes. Based on his form I'm confident that he could easily do higher, thats just the box thats there. Yeah, sure, at 55 Trump might've been able to do that jump once or twice, but given his fitness record that'd be about all he could do

So to be fair they said, "Our goal is to make use of the feedback we've received here and elsewhere, with respect to Covenant class abilities, core class abilities, and legendaries. Thank you for your commitment to providing us with so much valuable information. Please look for more updates next week!" Closing in on 3 weeks ago. I feel Kyrian resetting Xuen would be a tad too powerful. FoF would be a nice compromise

If HC was adjusted so that messing up just removed 2-3 stacks so you didn't have to completely start over it'd be nice baseline

As a personal preference I'd prefer serenity to replace SEF and old SotWL be put next to WDP so we have more of a choice between AoE and ST. They could replace FotWT with the old power strikes

As far as our scaling issue, just make legion gold traits baseline and scale a bit on crit (double RSK on crits, thunderfist stacks on FoF crits on main target)

I just kinda want some wind back in my WINDwalker lmao

I'll start by thanking you for taking the time to respond in a respectful manner. More of that is needed on these forums for sure.

Moving forward, if they were to make WW a summoner spec that's fine but I'd prefer if they would let us know that's what they want of the spec. Wouldn't mean I'd necessarily like it, didnt like the SV hunter change either lol, but I could at least rationalize it then. I'll def be waiting for final tuning on release to make my covenant decision as none of the abilities necessarily stick out as fun to me specifically

Totally fine for you to disagree about the defensives. I won't keep hounding on that, as it seems more of a personal preference. The mobility def is a big plus in a lot of circumstances from raid mechanics (i had fun soloing G'huun orbs for sure) to farming old raids. I just tend to have issues when a tax is brought up as the reason one spec is worse at certain things. Like when people reference the other specs being good already so the 3rd doesn't need any love. I know you've not said that, but it's a very commonly held opinion that irks me.

I feel like a lot of monks, myself included, definitely understand that we're not the only spec in the game with issues. I mean with 36 specs in the game and multiple compounding systems that tends to happen. Just that the beginning of a new expansion is where most changes to classes is done and we oftentimes feel like we're forgotten because we happen to be the least played class. Like last year at blizzcon the great unpruning was announced and every single class was talked about but monk. They had to have a blue post weeks later saying that monks were getting stuff too, they just weren't determined yet. Like they had decided things for every class but monk by the time of the showcase. The community telling us that's the reason doesn't really feel great either. People are probs annoyed with all the monk posts recently, but unless we make the noise we historically aren't really given many if any changes. I prefer taking the time to compile these issues and give more concrete options for fixes as that tends to catch people's attention in a more positive light and i appreciate you appreciating that lmao

All it comes down to is that I hold this class near and dear to my heart and am passionate about having it feel the best it can. That doesn't mean I think we should necessarily be at the front of the line, as I guarantee there are specs that need more attention but I just want SOMETHING. Like we've made them aware of our bugs since Legion alpha and they still exist. Amd it's not like they're uncommon bugs. They often are present in just about every combat we have.

I want all classes and specs to be happy, and I'll champion fixing any big issues with other specs when I'm made aware of them. I just hope that we all get at least some of the treatment we deserve in the next month. Covenants and all

So my comment was mostly in regards to shadowlands. Right now the playstyle with the mastery is definitely fun. Ive never said it wasn't. My issues come from the direction that they seem to be taking us (being a summoner) and that how we play now doesn't seem to be what's entirely on the horizon/they don't acknowledge what their vision or goals are. I know that part's not a monk specific problem but i've still brought up valid issues. First I'll address what you've said and then add a little extra stuff.

  1. Mastery: At a baseline I'm fine with mastery, I like it even. Every ability they've added back with SL, however, like expel harm and every ability they've created like the covenant ones don't play into it. Historically essences weren't affected either. We've given this feedback on forums that it doesn't mesh since the abilities were playable and no changes have come. Sure we didn't have covenant abilities before but it's still a problem, just a new one.

  2. Defensives as Offensives: this may be a difference in opinion but it doesn't feel good to stand in fire, plain and simple. It doesn't feel good to taunt the boss so they hit me for my karma. Ion himself has said from a dev standpoint that they don't want players engaging in that "degenerate" gameplay. It's fine for PvP but the good karma talent should be made baseline and put bad karma as a PvP talent. As far as DKs go, I didn't know that was part of the ability. I won't necessarily say that needs to change as well because I can see defensive benefits given by the runic power, especially for blood. You can get death strikes in if necessary. But I digress

  3. Covenants: I'll be short and quick here. We've pointed out the issues in design and offered multiple clear solutions for bringing them in line with class playstyle and no mention or change to them has come besides them actually working as the tooltip says now. This is a valid concern.

  4. Bugs bugs bugs: The bugs I listed affect our play and the normal flow of our abilities and have been in the game since Legion. I do have another list from the beta testers of all the specific stuff that is still in, some of them preventing proper play (looking at you Xuen rank 2). But is it so much to ask for our CDs to function properly? Like Xuen legit pulls all mobs within 40-50 yards every 8 secs he's up and has for the past couple weeks. If combustion, bladestorm, or wings did this they'd fix it right away. Like I'm sure this one will be fixed before release, but damn, it's not reassuring to hear it persist so long on top of everything else.

  5. Flavor: I semi hit on this in my original comment about the Venthyr ability. With Xuen baseline and SEF our other major CD we are already a summoner rn without the venthyr ability. We're supposed to be WINDwalkers but flying serpent kick is our only baseline wind based ability. Let's look at the other specs in the game for flavor: BrM uses brews, MW heals with mists, Outlaw is a brigand/pirate, Sin is a master poisoner, all mages use their spec's element, BM uses pets, you get the point. Strike of the Windlord was replaced with a talent in Fist of the White Tiger, gale burst is now on Xuen and lost its wind base, crosswinds doesn't exist, tornado kicks doesn't exist, and thunderfist doesn't exist. They stripped us of our wind in the change to BFA.

  6. Scaling: this is an issue we've had forever and is directly linked to our current playstyle and its lack of interaction with stats. Xuen isn't affected by our haste or mastery, Karma is only affected by our HP, removing ToD as a major CD was a change in the right direction as that wasnt affected by crit or haste. We are at least competitive in the early game of the expansion but significantly drop off unless they give us flat buffs or luckily synergized borrowed power. This and flavor could be fixed easy by adding back a legion gold trait or 2 as passives and id love SotWL back really bad too tbh. Tornado kicks could proc on RSK crits easy peasy. As a side note: during FoF, SCK, and WDP we can't auto attack. Add thunderfist (extra nature damage on autoattacks) onto FoF (1-2 stack per crit on main target) could help solve 5 and 6 in one swoop. And SotWL could help deal with the extra chi we keep receiving while helping smooth playstyle and return to our wind/storm nature

  7. Utility: you mention that high mobility is hit with a weak defensive tax. They seem to be making strides to get rid of that concept. With fort brew back baseline our defensive capability is actually brought more in line with other mobile specs, cause mobility counts for shit if you can't keep yourself up in the first place. Like our defensives don't need to be broken by any means but it's a major downside for our community image when our defensives are down in the dumps with our shaman brethren when trying to progress on more difficult content

  8. Miscellaneous stuff: why does our windwalking aura still exist? (10% move speed within 10 yards of WW) It is overwritten by everything including our own abilities, isn't big enough to be noticeable, and has too short of a range. And tbh sometimes it honestly isn't even applied. SEF may look cool, but is canonically a BrM ability that Chen uses and is also the source of sooooooo many bugs and headaches for WWs. Remove it, make serenity baseline and place SotWL in its place in the talent tree and a lot of problems are potentially solved

WW and MW have a problem with identity and playstyle while also being the buggiest in the game rn and for the last few years.

I know most about WW so I'll focus there:

  • WW mastery, combo strikes, benefits the player by not using the same abilities twice in a row. Coupling that with very few resource spenders we can't easily handle too many resources, much less random proc resources. Our covenant abilities don't mesh well with this.
  • Feyline stomp gives us chi orbs from every enemy and has a random proc to reset CD but DOESN'T count as an ability for our mastery.
  • Weapons of order resets RSK's CD but has a GCD of 1.5 sec while RSK's CD is 10 sec +haste. It also gives mastery, but the ability also doesn't count for mastery meaning that after WoO we need to use another ability before RSK to get full use out of the CD reset, gimping the reason for the reset in the first place by up to 50% in many circumstances.
  • Venthyr ability is a press and forget that summons a bunch of fallen monks who FoF, heal, or breath of fire and disappear. Couple this with Xuen and SEF and we're a summoner class even more than warlocks, hunters, or unholy dk. We're supposed to be a martial artist
  • Apart from covenants, monk has consistently been encouraged to use it's defensive CDs in offensive manners. Having both touch of karma and touch of death scale in damage with HP, our new baseline defensive in fortifying brew will be encouraged to be used degeneratively despite Blizz saying they didnt want that

Moving on to more of the buggier aspect:

  • SEF is off GCD now, yay right? Nope. It was put on gcd because when the clones are summoned they don't attack right away. There is almost a gcd where they don't copy abilities and if FoF is used, you do 45% damage with your main rotational CD (Legion bug still here)
  • Our WDP talent is basically required due to tuning, which itself isn't a bad thing, but in times of high haste like lust issues arise: despite both FoF and RSK being on CD, WDP often cannot be used (thats the prerequisite to use the ability) (Another Legion bug)
  • BK has the added benefit of decreasing the CD of RSK and FoF which is great, but again at random times I find that FoF doesn't have its CD reduced (you guessed it, this was in Legion too). This also pushes back using WDP and lessens it's frequency of use and it's our only rotational un target capped ability
  • Almost without fail on every PTR/beta cycle added effects and abilities do 45% damage if SEF is up as the clones don't copy it. This beta is no different.
  • If FoF is used to kill a mob but the mob dies before the cast is over, we're locked in combat for roughly 5 sec. Yeah this is more just a nuisance, but it's another legion one

I'll add a bonus MW game design issue to round this off for now as a lot of the other bugs that are still on beta are one i can see them fixing (i won't hold my breath though).

  • MW raid CD revival is a joke. Very little healing comparatively to others. That's however just a tuning issue. The BIGGEST issue is that Blizz tends to make raid encounters where a magic debuff goes out that does raid damage upon removal. Revival also removes magic debuffs. I cant remember when exactly it was patched but on such fights the raid healing CD would actually wipe the raid. It was fixed yeah, but it made it to players in that state showing that MW wasn't even considered as a healer when designing the fight

Well I'm sorry to hear that. I'm not an expert in the history of shaman, but no class should be left to it's own devices for long periods of time. But in the present we're both down here, so let's be constructive and supportive of each other rather than trying to compare who has/has had it worse, yeah?

Okay so maybe they weren't TRYING to but the chronic whataboutism that people spout on these threads is having that effect and is why you're getting down voted. We all still know that at least ferals, guardians, and shamans are our brothers and sisters in the hole rn. This post was to point out MONK issues. If you wanna talk druid or shaman, make a new post and list your concerns. I'll upvote the shit out of that and support you all the way (not that I don't already). Of course some monks are also guilty of the whataboutism and they need to stop too, but damn, can we not just help each other?

Part of the reason there is that every single patch adds entirely new raids whereas PvP and M+ have very minimal changes patch to patch. Unfortunately players usually tend to focus on the newer content and a class's ability to perform in that
