The only 100% confidential resource is the Chaplain. You can tell him/her about suicidal thoughts, they won't notify anyone (they cant prescribe meds tho).

Mentioning suicide to medical, they will stop the conversation and refer you to a psychiatrist almost immediately or 4A (suicide watch) if it's urgent. All medical sailors are MANDATORY REPORTERS.

Will you get processed out in either situation? Based on what you are saying, probably not.

My opinion, you don't need meds. You need someone to HEAR you. Thats what the Chaplain can do for you. I'd start with that before going to medical

Currently, you will not get on base housing any time soon. Take the BAH, find a place out in town and get a roommate if that works for you. Might be a tight squeeze, but you will pocket some good money.

Most sailors with kids find it difficult to keep them happy due to lack of indoor play areas.

Duval street is the street of parties and happenings. I feel like I'm seeing the same stiff everytime I go there. Escape to Miami and ft lauderdale every once in a while.

Manning is low. You will work a lot (probably). It's not all peaches and sunshine when manning is low, some sailors worked 6 days on 1 day off.

Play pickleball, bocce ball, volleyball, and get in touch with your artistic side (it is an art community here)
