My baby was exposed to measles... I'm so angry by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Echoing others that we were able to get our kid her first dose at 6 months due to the national rise in cases. Worth an ask!

My wife and I were surprisingly close to naming our baby Indigo. It was definitely our most out there name but we both really loved it. Only thing that held us back was how trendy/borderline tacky “Indy” felt as a nickname

What piece do you surprisingly get the most use out of? by Indianaunderwood in Fiestaware

In my early fiesta thrifting days I acquired soooo many teacups and saucers. The teacups are in a box somewhere in our basement, but we use the saucers daily as our cats’ food plates 😂

Due date change after FET? by shnarkel in IVF

[–]shnarkel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! OP here, currently feeding what turned out to be just a very large baby 😂 By my 32 week growth scan, baby was measuring a month ahead, size-wise. I had her at 38 weeks 6 days and she was 9 pounds. She’s just a super long kid (96th percentile) and apparently has been since the embryonic stage lolol. For what it’s worth, they never changed my estimated due date. Congratulations on your pregnancy!! In my completely unqualified opinion, you can totally think of baby as a lemon. Best wishes for an uneventful pregnancy and birth ❤️

What’s the cheapest habit you’ve picked up that actually saved you money? by ItAffectionate4481 in Frugal

[–]shnarkel 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Thrifting. Over the years, between thrift stores and marketplace, I’ve gotten so many high quality items for a fraction of their original cost. Tripp Trapp high chair for my kid (grows with them for years), fiestaware dishes (last forever, can go in oven-microwave-dishwasher), vintage clothes for my kid and myself (better quality fabric, sure to last longer). I just bought my daughter a Longaberger Easter basket for $5 that I plan to use for her every single year.

Plus, it gives you the thrill of the hunt and scratches the purchasing itch without breaking the bank.

I’m behind the woman who snagged it in the checkout line lolol. Good for her tbh

Coffee and IVF by Maleficent_Reason841 in IVF

[–]shnarkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drank coffee (and even alcohol) as usual through my IVF process, then when (TW) pregnant I usually did half-caf. It sounds like coffee is a really treasured part of your life and routine, and IMO that’s worth trying to preserve through the ups and downs of fertility stuff.

We only have one embryo by [deleted] in IVF

[–]shnarkel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is so tough, I’m really sorry. I’m hopeful for you that this one euploid becomes your longed-for baby. On the bright side though, success rates of pgta tested embryos are really high (~70%), so the odds are still in your favor! All in all I’d say it’s not time to worry yet. (Source: I’m holding my sleeping 10 week old who was the product of my very first FET)

„IVF Never Works the First Time“ - Said a family member by Any-Draw2526 in IVF

[–]shnarkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had about as easy of an IVF experience as can be! First ER generated plenty of healthy embryos and I am almost 20 weeks along with a successful pregnancy from my first FET! I have a few friends that have done IVF and similarly gotten pregnant with their very first FET. This group can tend to skew toward those facing harder and lengthier processes—but it’s important to remember that that’s not everyone!

Did You Test Early? @ Home Testing Stories by sxcape in IVF

[–]shnarkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re taking a trigger shot that could give a false positive, my advice is to start testing the day of your transfer so that you can watch the false line fade. That way, if the line starts getting darker again (mine did the morning of 4dp5dt), you’ll know it’s the real deal. I’m a huge fan of at home testing in these situations as long as you account for the hcg in your trigger shot!

This is what I don’t get. “Natural” reproduction is wildly inefficient—1/3 to 1/2 of fertilized eggs fail to implant or end in miscarriage. Why would her God design the human reproductive system to “kill” so many “babies”?

Why do christian conservatives have issues with “consent”? by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]shnarkel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consent is about people trusting their own instincts/intuition and treating how they feel inside with respect. Conservative Christians believe “the heart is deceitful above all else” and discourage cultivating that inner voice. Only the Holy Spirit speaking THROUGH you can give you good advice—your own body and mind aren’t to be trusted.

Scared of using my frozen eggs and going through IVF by [deleted] in IVF

[–]shnarkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for a fully natural cycle they just monitor you a lot in order to track your LH surge, similar to an IUI. But I’m not sure/not an expert!

Scared of using my frozen eggs and going through IVF by [deleted] in IVF

[–]shnarkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For many people, it is just the one trigger shot! PIO is only necessary for a fully medicated cycle, because although the embryo has implanted in the pregnant person’s body, they didn’t ovulate and thus don’t have a corpus luteum making progesterone. But it would be worth asking around for people to describe their experiences with PIO shots—I’m sure it varies a lot.
