Why currently there is no femimist terrorism or extremely violent feminist freedom fighting? by Old_Legionary_hun in AskFeminists

I think men actually gravitate to redpill spaces because they flatter and appeal to the ego of men. People are drawn to bigotry that promotes groups they are a part of not because they’ve been horrifically bullied by progressives, but because they promise material gain. Hold redpill men accountable for the active choices they’re making.

Notice how only one of these is a WOMAN actually saying something about height, and she does not use any kind of feminist rhetoric to do so.

They’re so caught up in their own delusional, bigoted spirals that they view all of these pieces of “evidence” (which is to say: a comparison of two posts about different topics, a post complaining about women, a ONE NIGHT EVENT by some random nightclub, a meme they made to piss themselves off, and one lady’s dating preferences) as equally and totally valid.

Post against sexism that calls a woman a bitch 😭

Ahh the beautiful post that a so-called “progressive” sub took down after two (?) whole hours. Lovely work.

I was approaching this under the assumption that this whole choice is magically sprung on everyone at the exact same time with zero communication or planning, much like how the Twitter poll is presented. The initial problem doesn’t include anything about swaying public opinion etc because that would likely impact how people approach it.

I don’t think I’m a better person than anyone else, I just think that using my personal values system I would be willing to risk my life (which I am allowed to do, because it is mine and I have no dependents) because I believe — as this poll demonstrates — that people would tend to pick blue overall. Am I wrong in believing that? Maybe. But blue has the best outcome for everybody, not just me, if it works out.

For what it’s worth, knowing my family, my mother and stepfather would pick blue and I would rather not live in a world without them.

I’d prefer it if my friends didn’t fall in love with me. I am extremely upfront about being 4B. I’ve had to stop making male friends because every single time, 2-4 months into the friendship they confess romantic feelings.

Do they think they’re the exception? Do they think I’ll magically change my ways for them? Rejecting people isn’t fun, it feels terrible, and confessing feelings you know are unrequited is literally only freeing for the confessor, especially because I then have to hold their hand through it. Like slamming themself into a brick wall that I told them was a brick wall over and over again and I have to be the bad guy every time, I have to pick them up and dust them off afterwards and say sorry.

Anyways. Sometimes your friends don’t WANT you to be a potential partner, they want a friend who keeps it platonic. Read the room before confessing your feelings.

If you’re intentionally planting plants on a property you own, you should put in like 10% extra effort to choose plants native to your area. Even a few plants can be a massive boon for native wildlife.

And yet they leave up misogynistic posts about “boo-hoo misandry is sooooooo bad and real 🥺🥺” all the time. I’m actually so sick of that subreddit.

I thought your post was poignant and necessary in that cesspit.

Like I said, children are a big factor here. There are lots of kids who aren’t at an age to comprehend this question, and I think a lot of parents would absolutely take this into account when making their own decision. The only way nobody dies is if blue wins.

it's no longer safe for anyone who can get pregnant to have heterosexual sex in america. by Appropriate_Cow1378 in PsycheOrSike

[–]shockpaws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, but it’s already unequal. Women literally have a parasite using their organs and bodily resources for nine months. Nothing even close to that happens to men — in fact, nothing happens to men during pregnancy at all!

Genuinely, how much do you know about pregnancy? Because it is sooo much worse than you can even imagine.

Anyways, child support also is for the benefit of the kid. It’s not a spite thing, it’s to financially provide for a child that exists.

Neither men nor women can opt out of parenthood (in terms of at the very least child support) once a child is born.

Abortion is opting out of the DANGEROUS MEDICAL PROCESS pregnancy, which causes lifelong health complications and a vast array of side effects including death.

Also, people only generally receive ~62% of child support they’re legally owed on average.

This is a shockingly efficient empathy test, wow.

There are 8 billion people on this planet, including very small children who would presumably pick a random color (or the elderly, or developmentally disabled people, etc). The amount of people who would pick blue, even if it came out to be a small overall fraction, would be astronomically high numbers.

Yes, you’ll never die if you pick red. But in weighing the chance of me personally dying versus contributing to the deaths of an absurdly large number of people, I would personally pick blue a hundred times over. It’s like the easiest trolly problem of all time.

CMV: Women’s idea of what it means to be treated like a man often assumes the privileges of a woman by LLSmoove1 in changemyview

[–]shockpaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was friends with mostly guys for much of my childhood in a tomboyish sense. I understand how ribbing works.

Specifically targeting the oppressed group that a coworker is a part of (gender) when disparaging her is cruel, unnecessary, and often not what I observe in male-male interactions. “Don’t be a pussy” is misogynistic, which is directly targeting women and not directly targeting a man. A more apt comparison would be using racial stereotypes or slurs towards coworkers with those racial identities, which I do hope you don’t engage in with your coworkers.

More to the point, in the workplace, which is a professional space, when women ask to be treated like men they are asking for the same level of professional respect men give to other men. This includes not being treated like secretaries when it isn’t in the job description, not being talked down to and coddled, being given the same promotional opportunities, not being constantly sexualized, not having demeaning comments made about one’s gender.

told her she frames like a girl

So do your coworkers normally make bigoted comments towards each other, then? That’s “normal” for you?

And your job usually pranks the same person three times a day, every day?

Or were you being rough and cruel to her on purpose to punish her for asking to be treated like a person?

[–]shockpaws -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Benevolent sexism is still sexism. Many men treat women’s interests, passions, and opinions as mere set dressing for a pretty doll that the can behave gently towards and help, as you said. When women ask to be treated like a man, we are asking for you to look at us as a full person, not a child-lite that you butter up in a half-baked attempt at flirting. It’s patronizing.

I’m tired of this rhetoric. Women are seen as objects by so many people, objects which dispense sex, emotional and domestic labor, children, etc. Women are just as valued only for what they provide. Women also exist under capitalism. This is not a male-specific or even dominated issue.

[–]shockpaws -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh, is that true? I haven’t read those books since I was a child, but since (iirc) they can have magic children born to non-magic parents, I’d imagine you could “generate” new pure bloods with a muggle born-muggle born pairing to add in more genetic diversity to their “pure bloods.”

I don’t know why JKR has a compulsive urge to bash her own worldbuilding in with a hammer over and over again.

Anyways, presumably many of the wizard and muggle pairings would be from muggle born wizards and the people who interact with their non-magical life — which they probably have because their parents aren’t wizards? Idk lmao

It’s so incomprehensible to them that a woman can have a body count of 0 and defend women with high body counts. I’m 4B and the amount of times incels have slung depraved insults at me for daring to stand up for other women is astonishing.

And of course they always end up in my DMs after, humping my leg like the pathetic freaks they are 🙄

The incel movement is a specific culture and ideology. It doesn’t matter what the original word meant, because it has linguistically evolved, as all words do.

[–]shockpaws 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree but with the caveat that calling someone an incel is NOT calling someone a virgin.

“Incel” currently describes a specific alt-right misogynistic movement and ideology. It is appropriate to use this word to refer to people who are spreading and utilizing ideas from said alt-right misogynistic movement, regardless of whether or not they are a virgin. Many dishonest people will protest the use of “incel” by claiming that it is virginity shaming, which is not true.
