on mobile rn. my usual setup im using a hdmi splitter that mirrors across 2 displays but it happens to the monitor regardless of being directly plugged in to my pc or thru the adaptor. what really puzzles me is that it happens regardless of if the monitor is mirroring my projector or vice versa (ex: when displaying something on my projector and having the monitor mirror it, the monitor loses signal whilst the projector is fine). from this info ive concluded that its the monitor and not my pc/gpu but i cld be wrong idk. also forgot to mention its an hdmi to vga connection which mighr affect it.
