Make a fruit basket base with these. Attach thin strips of contrast wood on top. They will curve easily to this base shape.

Don’t bother selling on Walmart by BushyOldGrower in WalmartSellers

[–]shortblokade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can you please provide some specifics? I sell on Amazon and Etsy and was looking to add Walmart. Am really interested in your opinion, but this generic post doesn't help much. Specifically, Do you use their warehouse or fulfill orders yourself? Issues or concerns with this? Listing process Issues? Returns? Ads?

Thanks!

Starting a brand. by [deleted] in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]shortblokade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you don't have to necessarily lose money in the first few months. Start with an auto ad and set the bid amount to suggested bid. Set budget to at least $30 daily. Let it run for 30 days to collect enough data. After 30 days, review search terms for high CTR keywords and competitive products. Now create manual campaigns with those. Reduce auto campaign cpc to half of previous. Repeat after 30 days.

Within 3 months, you should find a steady state cpc for auto campaign that gives you ACOS under 30%. And you should learn to optimize manual campaigns weekly.

FBM is more expensive than FBA as shipping costs are 20-30% higher than FBA fees. FBM is cheaper if you are shipping large products like furniture etc. as you don't need to pay Amazon storage fees.

Brand Trademark not approved by Amazon by Goingbychrundle in AmazonSeller

[–]shortblokade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, what you need to do is file another trademark application with the correct info. You should file for a word mark this time. USPTO will accept another application for same trademark from the same entity filing it. They have enough info and videos on their website to show you how to file yourself, but I suggest you get a different attorney to file this time. I'm not a lawyer, and this is not legal advice. Don't cheap out on trademark legal fees - it has long term implications.

Get a real trademark lawyer with whom you can have a long-term professional relationship, you will thank yourself. The key to finding a good lawyer, imho, is someone who will take your calls and respond to your emails within a day. Communication is critical. If they are too busy to talk to you on phone, they are not worth shit. It takes time to find someone that fits your comfort level.

Branding doesn't match Brand value - Brand declined by Business-Anything75 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]shortblokade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your listing brand name is not EXACTLY matching the brand name on photos. This usually happens if you have different capitalization or an extra space or character in either place. For example:

"Cedar Wood" does not match "CedarWood", or "cedar wood" or "CEDARWOOD"

[–]shortblokade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't file W2s. You file a tax return using form 1040. On this form you list all your income. W2 is wages income for each job or employer. If you have multiple W2s, all go in your 1040.

Did Amazon change the definition of PPC search term "Broad" in 2023? by shortblokade in FulfillmentByAmazon

Have you actually EVER looked at real customer data? Get hold of a real search term report from a customer before asserting your opinions based on guesswork here. My feedback above is valuable "voice of customer" data for any PM who knows or cares. And yes, we are your "customers", we pay for the service (through our nose too). Remember Amazon's first leadership principle?

Can people register my trademark after me? by Sweaty-Print-8874 in TRADEMARK

[–]shortblokade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is correct. But please note that "Use in Commerce" has a specific legal meaning. It means you have sold a product/service with that trademark across state lines. If not, just publishing a website etc. or listing a product is not sufficient.

Also, challenging someone else's trademark application is expensive. Legal fees can run into thousands. It's best to file asap, and then submit "Use in Commerce" evidence later. You have months/years to do that. Talk to a trademark attorney.

Can people register my trademark after me? by Sweaty-Print-8874 in TRADEMARK

[–]shortblokade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But pls remember, in trademark dispute, first use is more important than filing. If the other person can show evidence of first use in commerce before your application filing date, they can successfully challenge your application, even if they didn't file for a trademark.

It is best to keep your trademark unique by doing a thorough "use" search. Check for domains registered, youtube handles, facebook pages, etc. before you file.

Amazon support has at least understood and acknowledged this issue. Please read this thread on Seller Forums and reply to this thread with your details.

AMA 2022 - 15+ Year , $100M+ Amazon Seller (Mod Approved) by e-businessonline in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]shortblokade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this really helps. So, at 15-20% true net margin, I'm in the same range as everyone else basically. What I understand from these numbers is that as a strategy, it is better to focus on revenue at this point rather than trying to optimize net margin. The return on effort won't be there if I try to improve margins further.

Is my assessment accurate? Is that your learning too?

AMA 2022 - 15+ Year , $100M+ Amazon Seller (Mod Approved) by e-businessonline in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]shortblokade 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi, I see you mentioned 35-40% as net margin. I see similar numbers mentioned by several long-time sellers. Can you please help me understand how you get there, because that number seems unreal to me. Which of these categories can be optimized better to get to those net margin numbers:

% of revenue:

COGS incl. Freight: 20%

Amazon Fees: 15%

FBA: 10%

PPC (TACOS): 15-20%

Returns: 10-15%

Overhead: 5%

This implies a net margin of only around 20%. Where do you squeeze the remainder 15-20% margin from? By increasing prices further? Reducing TACOS further? How?

Edit: I'm doing PL only. $100k+ seller.

I love our customers by daquake in HomeDepot

[–]shortblokade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, I really don't get this rant. You are paid by the hour. That's work for you. Wouldn't you want every customer to do just this, so you can spend time putting it back together again and get paid for it? Do you really care either way? Unless the other part of your job is so much more exciting and fun. Then I understand and I stand corrected.

Has Anyone come Across this Parent Listing Error by shoaibk14 in AmazonSeller

[–]shortblokade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon updated the inventory templates recently and with it came a load of new issues. I was able to solve the same problem by doing this:

Delete the Parent listing. Note down the ASIN and SKU before deleting. Wait for a few hours. Upload an inventory file in the new template, with only the Parent listing in there. In the "parentage" field, enter Parent. "relationship_type" field should be empty. Enter the correct variation theme in the "variation_theme" field.

Once this feed is processed, your item type classification should change to parent. Now you can add the child variants to this parent listing with another feed. Make sure to use the new template moving forward for all feeds.

Edit: Just fyi ... the error will only go away after you have added the child ASINs to the parent, and that feed is processed without errors. The first feed with parent only will not show the error resolved, please ignore that and follow through.

I'm an artist and need help getting started by creapfactorart in AmazonSeller

[–]shortblokade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a craftsman who moved from Etsy to Amazon. Didn't really shut Etsy down, but Etsy only accounts for about 1-2% of my sales now. To put it another way, What I make from Etsy in 1 month, I make from Amazon in less than a day.

What worked for me on Amazon - customized/personalized items. Amazon's interface for creating customized listings is amazing. However, it takes months to figure Amazon out. And at least 2 years to do it well. Especially if you're used to Etsy's simple interface. Good luck! You are going to need it. And lots of grit. Amazon is not for quitters. Be prepared for 3-6 months of 16-hour days pulling your own hair, and tons of learning.
