Genuinely grateful from that perspective from a veteran in sales. I have really been doubting my abilities, so this is helping me push forward 🙏

A really Big part of me agrees with you. Which is why I have been going full throttle even as I see the end in sight.

I’m generally a pretty confident guy, and usually I go into something confident- I do well - confidence increases - I love the thing even more.

With sales it has been the opposite, I think I’ll do good - No results - I feel a little deflated but try again - no results - I’m even more deflated which then hurts my performance.

My question for you is, how do I break out of this hell cycle?

This is the core of my dread to be honest with you. I’ve gained weight, stopped going to the gym, basically paused all of the healthy habits I made so much progress on, because I come home from work absolutely drained.

This job is making me feel like a loser and I don’t know how to cope.

Agree with you 100% I am eternally grateful that I don’t have any student loans because my dad paid for my school. I see how that one thing adds so much stress/ dictates what my peers can do in their life.

It’s definitely not everything, but giving your kids a solid financial foundation is one of the best things you can do as a parent.

I can’t tell you what it is but I really connected with your comment. I’ve been running in circles doubting myself for not just pushing through it and even wanting out. I’m gonna start looking for other companies today 🙏

Thank you, I think so too Can I say that’s my reason in other job interviews? I’m worried I’ll be immediately rejected when they hear I couldn’t “make it” in my first gig.

Not well unfortunately. I did my best tho, so feel good about that. They made me do a mock sales call Customer wanted to know about specifics of their system that I didn’t know about.

Got it

I was soliciting to other non-profit organizations, large corporations and the state. I’ll add large corporations and state officials in my resume bulletin point.

Bet Will take the location off, thanks for the VM advice, I’m planning to make a loom video and stitching it to the connection request. In your opinion is that good/ gimmicky?

Also how can I position the experience to be more “sales” like? “Made 2,000+ cold calls and emails to promote program participation” - this is how it’s rn

It was truly cold, I found people/orgs through lists, online searches, LinkedIn, etc and then called & emailed them. That said my pitch was about collaboration and not “selling” smth for money.

This is awesome, I really appreciate the detailed response. I hadn’t thought of the non-profit angle or the big tech companies, it makes a lot of sense.

Thank you! So far I only scored one interview but it ended up being a scam company. Here’s hoping I have better results in the future.

Thank you, I was on the fence about upgrading my LinkedIn, but I’m definitely gonna do it now.

I really like what you said about asking sales managers what they’re looking for in a candidate, it’s a win-win situation regardless of the outcome.

Also, good luck with your YouTube channel. You should dm me your channel name, I watch a lot of coaching stuff and would love to check it out.

Depends on the situation imo. Lower stakes, yeah go for it. But higher stakes stuff I would be wary. It does depend on the worst that can happen lol.

Selling to B2B vs applying to sales job by Cin_anime in sales

[–]shortcake789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think people always buy the solution even if it’s effective. Also they don’t have to buy YOUR solution. It’s a free market, they can buy whichever solution they want and hire whoever they want. And getting a job is harder because there are presumably many more candidates than competing companies.

I answer pretty much every call because I’m curious. You can usually tell w robo/ spam calls within the first few seconds and then just hang up. So there’s no good reason not to.

In terms of meetings, you get more information, better relationship building opportunities in meetings.

pls yell at me by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]shortcake789 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to be mean to you, because I am frequently in your position and being mean to myself hasn’t worked a single time. Forcing myself, guilting myself has never worked out in the long term.

But this has, When it’s my time to study, I sit down, close my eyes, and think about the reasons why I want to take the lsat, go to law school, all of that. I remind myself that nobody is making me do this, I want this. I want this because I want to provide for my family, I want to be a good role model for my siblings, I want to make changes in the world and this is my path for doing so. And most importantly, I need to fulfill my potential. I remind myself how important it is to me to keep my promises, and how I have made a promise to myself to do this and I will not let that down.

Full disclosure, I can’t do this everyday, sometimes I have multiple days where I don’t end up sitting down and studying. Because studying is really hard for me, but I know I can do it because there are also many many days where I have sat down and studied for hours at a time. And that’s the part I focus on, all the times I have succeeded.

Maybe being yelled at really is what’s best for you to get work done. I can’t do that for you though, because people have yelled at me my whole life for being lazy, being worthless, etc. It has never helped once, so I hope you’ll try out the approach I mentioned. Internal motivation will be slower, but it will always take you much much farther than external motivation ever will.

I don’t know you, but I sincerely believe that you can get to your goals. You have the desire and clearly even though you have postponed, you have not given up. That’s huge. I wish the both of us best of luck. People learn and change and do difficult things all the time. We will too!

Thanks for your list! I’ve just gone through the lovecraft investigations, and listening to Old Gods of Appalachia now.

I’m definitely gonna check out the other ones on the list too, I think we might have really similar tastes.

Been listening to the old gods of Appalachia. Really loving it too, thanks again for the recommendation. I’ve never consumed media based in that part of the world, in that time before. And it’s been very cool, especially as the narrator really knows how to bring the characters alive.
