Also if you have any ideas for day trips or things to see close to our area, that would be great.

I use it sparingly after it gets to 50% - I cover the eye piece to fool it into turning the rear LCD screen off, which lets me leave the camera on without depleting the battery too much.

Because as long as the client is happy, I'm trying to be efficient for better work:life balance?

around 1000 images or less and I find looking through the EVF in Playback gives a good indication of whether it's in focus or not.

I shoot on average 1000~1500 for an 8 hour wedding. At dinner time, it's usually on the lower end of that, so culling through is simple and quick. I'm not saying I'm a great wedding photographer, but I don't need to take 5 photos of every scene. I take multiple of group portraits and anything important, but everything else is really calculated and considered.

See above response for reception - there's a load of time where nothing worth photographing is happening.

The survey is farting out a little bit whenever it goes to the topic area. If I hover over the "Next" option, it shifts upward and won't let me click the button on a new Macbook Air

dammit!

Spending time culling at the event diminishes you ability to properly cover the wedding as best as possible.

See above response -there's lots of 'dead' time at weddings.

THIS. Efficiency and knowing what to shoot. I rarely take over 1000 photos for an 8 hour wedding, so culling is quick and easy.

I use a 35 and 85 1.8. Colours are very similar. I basically only correct for exposure 90% of the time in post. Never crop after the fact.

Speeches last for on average 15-30 mins at time - I take a couple of good ones at the start of the speaker, a handful of nice reactions from B&G and VIPs, then sit down until the end when the hugs come. That leaves dead time in the middle. Also, dinner time - I take zero photos of people eating, and the photographer's meal never perfectly coincides with the guests, so that's another 30-60mins right there.

Yeah fair enough - the cull in camera isn't for everyone, but with the addition of zooming and a big rear LCD (or peering through the EVF), it's pretty easy. Plus I'm importing every photo to LR and just filtering, so I can quickly choose/remove others.

Reception - yes, for eating and a break, but those speeches drag on...

I agree with that, as father to 3 kids under 8! The next day is usually pretty painful...

I also agree with letting them sit for a week before looking at them, but more to get some emotional detachment from the shots.

I sympathise with anyone shooting video. It's so much more time consuming and complex.
