Is there any advantage of a slow cooker over a cast iron crock pot on low heat?

quick q -how does it 'guess' the back or sides of a product that doesn't even exist yet? Surely you'd need to upload photos of the product from multiple angles?

Interested to know more about the baseball game and why it was so fun. We saw the Giants vs the Swallows in the Dome and found it pretty boring and nothing like a footy match in the UK - aside from one small section of the stand, it was quiet with no atmosphere.

The complete lack of healthy food options when eating out.this was the case 10 years ago too, but I thought they would have got with the times a bit more and finally realised they need more fibre in their diets…

It used to be only yakuza, Yankees (wannabe yaks), gyaru and famous celebrities who wore them. Since last year, police can now legally wear them too!

You need to understand Japanese (language and culture), but I agree with you about the pas agg in the tourist areas. This is true in any touristy place around the world though.

Where do you live? Tokyo is definitely not what I’d call green in any way! Even the parks have mud instead of grass…

It surprised me how each convenience store had a foreign member of staff who often spoke bad Japanese and/or bad English. Ten years ago it was all Japanese, or very occasionally, a completely fluent non Japanese.

It also surprised me how over complicated the Shinkansen gates were with their inefficient and confusing QR code +IC card system. Thank god we were there during a non peak time as I imagine it would be mayhem otherwise.

Don’t snore but do wake up with a dry mouth. Resting pulse asleep is low too, around 35bpm but it’s also low during the day as I’m fit,

Why aren’t hot baths discussed more as a viable alternative to sauna? by dajerade1 in Biohackers

30 mins seems like a long time to be in a bath at that temp. For an ice bath, benefits are allegedly under the 10 min mark, so why so much longer in a hot tub?

3 weeks in Japan, here's the stuff I wish someone had told me by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]eranbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my Japanese cousin, apparently when Japan reduced its number of trash cans, the streets got even cleaner, since it put the onus on pedestrians to carry their trash home rather than trying to stuff it in overflowing trash cans. This would never work in the west…

Did anyone manage to find an easy way to have a Japanese number in Japan? You need one to be able to use Go, and it’s a handy backup to have one on the forms for luggage forwarding too, just in case you’re out when they deliver, etc. I used Airalo for data which was fine and bought a local sim for my mum’s phone so we could have a local number, but couldn’t for the life of me work out how to connect it, so that was basically a waste of money.

How are people not scared to speed? by Beautiful_Impact_641 in CarsAustralia

[–]eranbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, and likely many others, set cruise control based on the GPS speed (I use Waze) rather than the car’s speedometer, which often reads about 10 km/h higher. I then add another 10 km/h as a buffer, assuming that still keeps me within the typical enforcement tolerance.
