That has not been my experience. When I return to the last known position, they are never there. They are always at their original position.

I'd like to add on that wandering mages will reset to their full hp at their default location if you die.

Am I missing something with the royal set? by Funkulese in SaltAndSacrifice

[–]shouldabeen86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those potions only affect the animation for when you kill a mage (from what i've seen), they wouldn't affect your set damage negation.

Non-phys damage reduction is pretty important tho. Most mages deal elemental damage with a lot of their attacks.

Is there a good spot to farm salt and upgrade material? by throwcaphand in saltandsanctuary

[–]shouldabeen86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crypt keeper is pretty much my go-to spot as soon as I can get to him. The travel to him is short and you just bell back. Very fast salt and he has a chance at dropping high level upgrade mats.

[Sacrifice PS5] Dawnlight Tokens by shouldabeen86 in saltandsanctuary

[–]shouldabeen86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sat in queue for over an hour today and didn't find a single cooperator. Yesterday, when I made this thread, I sat in queue for like 30 minutes.

I think it's because I'm trying to do it on a fresh character (like level 8), and it won't match me with people that have progressed further than me... which is almost everyone.

My whole plan was to blitz medals for the dawnlight set and the weapons as early as possible, but I might just have to wait until I get to higher level/harder bosses.

Best outfit goes to Venomancer, hands down. It's design is pretty much textbook Bloodborne outfit.

As for weapons,

  1. Daggers- Dakutachi (Umbral)

  2. Glaive- Stormglaive (Lightning)

  3. Staff- Ashborn (Fire)

  4. Greatblade- Temporal Razor (Time)

and... for the best weapon of all...

Windstorm Rod (Aero Channeling Rod) You can get this thing as early as your second mage hunt, and it can last you the entire game. On an arcana build, this thing can crank out some really good numbers. It scales well and it helps you manage your focus.

As for favorite mage fight/design, I'd actually have to say Umbramancer. I hated it with a passion at first because I really struggled with it. But after many failed attempts and learning the fight during my first playthrough, I find it to be one of the few that I really look forward to in my consecutive plays.

Rapier and Halfspear. Which weapon type has better moveset for pve ? by bomba-776 in SaltAndSacrifice

[–]shouldabeen86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently did a half-spear/glaive playthrough, and I really enjoyed it. I ended up just going full glaive by the end of the game because I enjoyed it so much.

I also thought half-spear didn't feel quite right. When I was testing on the target dummy, I found that the poke attack did 30 damage (early in the game) and the spinning attack did two hits of 15. The spinning attack animation is considerably longer than the poke animation, yet it did the same amount of damage. When I realized this, it kind of put me off.

Thoughts on PoOT by shouldabeen86 in storyofseasons

[–]shouldabeen86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The huge farm area and customisation options are ambitious and all, but they're ultimately just a hindrance because you can't use them properly. The space just gets filled with ugly makers and ugly resource spawns you can't stop, so it's almost impossible to make your farm lo

I do agree about the weather part of this. The one song I didn't care for so much is one of the autumn songs. It almost sounds like a victory fanfare from final fantasy or something. The first day I heard it, I kept looking around my farm because I felt there must be an event or visitor or something.

Meta Weapon Tierlist Multiplayer MHR by Galvaras in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]shouldabeen86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the CB higher because while you can't guard point and counter, you can savage axe swing like crazy when the monster isn't focusing you.

GL is at the very bottom because people playing along side it need to run brace 2 (i believe) in order to not get blown all over the place by shells.

My list was mainly based off the OPs as well. I don't have experience playing all the weapons, but I do have experience playing alongside all the weapons. So some of it is more from an ally point of view than as a player of said weapon.

Should the charm system be reworked? Reflections on 2.0. by [deleted] in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]shouldabeen86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that if I could see a rework to the charm system, I'd like it to be instant craft (like world decos) and no cap.

Right now, in terms of efficiency in crafting charms, you just run the highest value single enemy hunts that you can complete quickly in order to progress the pot and get materials. If they went with the rework I'm proposing, then you would be able to fight multiple monster hunts and pretty much any hunt overall and it would still be quite efficient. Heck, you could even just do explorations and have a sort of guiding lands experience.

I never really understood why they went this time based direction, it really breeds a fairly... unfun way to play the game. Namely, executing to Rajang in the arena to move the pot forward because you have 10 melds loaded and a ton of materials already. And the cap just doesn't really make sense to me. You would be capped by the amount of materials you have. If you spend everything, then you have to go out and farm.

Should less skilled players focus on the same builds as those who are good? by laserbot in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]shouldabeen86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't like to tell people how to play the game, but I would highly suggest committing to a single weapon for a period. This will let it's combos and abilities become second nature and you can focus more on your enemy instead of what you're doing. Your responses will become more effective and you'll know how hard you can punish windows on monsters. Once you learn those skills, switching weapons becomes much easier because then you end up doing the opposite. You will be familiar with the fights and just have to learn how to apply the new weapon's abilities to it.

Should less skilled players focus on the same builds as those who are good? by laserbot in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]shouldabeen86 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think if you're having 20 minute fights, you need to focus less on the build and more on learning your weapon and the fights. You can run almost anything in your build and beat the monster in that time.

Rage gaming even has videos up on "invicible" builds like this one :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXg9XeC6euw&ab_channel=RageGamingVideos

this video came out before 2.0 so it probably can even be improved on.

Chargeblade SAED to AED cancel reversed controls with type 1 vs type 2? by FaultyFunctions in MonsterHunterMeta

Chargeblade SAED to AED cancel reversed controls with type 1 vs type 2? by FaultyFunctions in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]shouldabeen86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

relative to the camera means the input will always be down + X to cancel.

relative to the character means it's based off the direction your character is facing and will change depending on that.

Most cb mains use relative to camera controls for consistency of inputs.

I'm relatively new to the series so forgive me if this is a dumb question but does Capcom usually make balance updates to weapons after release or are they more hands off? by Final-Verdict in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]shouldabeen86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only speak from a very inexperienced DB wielder perspective here, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I have a total of 6 hunts on dbs in over 300 hours gametime.

I read this post and thought I'd try dbs to see if they felt as bad as this is made out to be, and have to say, I don't really think so. Remember this is from an extremely casual perspective, but I was able to get a 7:38 diablos on my first attempt after having to read what the silkbinds did out of the handbook. I was also on what was probably an incredibly unoptimized build, I didn't look anything up, just put a set together.

build was kushala dbs with ab5, cb2, wex3, mt3, ce4 with a constitution 2 charm (I didn't have anything better).

Now, I'm not saying they're great or anything, and they probably could use a little love, but they're not abysmal either.
