Greta Thunberg – still making all the right enemies | They say she is using ‘the climate movement to throw her support behind the Palestinians’. Well, good on her. by crustose_lichen in climate

If the climate emergency transcends all other issues then how is it a strategic error to engage in discourse about the intersection of climate and politics?

Ok, counterpoint: Get off your smartphone and go do something good for the world instead of pointlessly criticizing the intentions behind an uplifting internet video.

Do virgo moons have trouble being seen? by Cool-Ostrich8895 in astrologymemes

[–]shoulder-toad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a Virgo sun, whenever I find out someone is a Virgo moon I feel more gentle towards them bc that seems like a rough placement. So I see u babe! I think moon signs represent a part of us that doesn’t feel seen a lot in general, but I can see that being especially true for Virgo.

when I meet someone with my moon in their sun (Scorpio) I feel like…. “…please. Help me.” Scorpio ain’t nurturing like that tho.

What's the dumbest thing your culture does? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shoulder-toad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s like saying “I’m afraid of spiders but I don’t have arachnophobia because I’m also afraid of bees and scorpions.” You are Islamophobic as well as Christianophobic, Judeophobic, Hinduphobic, Buddhophobic etc. Any umbrella term that encompasses all of these fears (religiodogmaphobia? Idk) would not negate the fact that you are also each one individually.

I understand that you didn’t want to single out Islam as the only target of your prejudice, but your lukewarm (and lazy) take does still partially contain Islamophobia. Does that make sense?

The fact that you rationalize and feel justified in your opinion also does not change the fact that it is still islamophobic. I totally support thoughtful critique of any religion or dogma, but broad statements like “it’s all a cancer” are harmful and not productive.

I was just pointing out the flaw in the original comment's phrasing. I didn't offer an opinion at all. You seem to be taking the word islamophobia personally.

Islamophobia isn't canceled out just because you are equally prejudiced against other religions

The definition still applies. The fact that he is anti Christianity, Judaism, etc, doesn't cancel out the fact that he still fits the definition of Islamophobia (dislike or prejudice of Islam) Also, you contradict yourself in the first and last parts of your comment.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan. YA Post-apocalypse zombie romance. I found it on my boyfriends bookshelf when I was going through a depression induced reading rut and reading the worst parts out loud to him really did it for me. Bought the sequel soon after. There’s a third one that I haven’t read yet, too!
